Default my custom DIY Exhaust

since after market exhaust doesn't offer that much hp gain, mainly just for look and sound and some weight reduction. so i figure i make my own to get the look and sound i want and reduce some weight at the same time.

the whole thing cost me $110 and half a day's work, that's if you have all the tools and do it yourself.
$50 for the aSpec 2.5" stainless oval muffler from ebay.
$60 for the 2.5" stainless U-bend.

the whole thing weigh 21.8 lbs. not sure how much the stock weigh but this exhaust considerably lighter. the sound is pretty good also, not as loud as i thought it would be. just a nice deep tone. i wanted to reduce the bends in the pipes but didn't want to much angle on the muffler, i just like a little angle. the tip is larger than what i like but i don't think it looks too bad.

here are some pics and vid.

Props on how cheap you made it for.

Don't like the sound though.

DIY. The single muffler looks better than the factory 2 muffler setup.

ohh i forgot to post before... actually the T1R 70mm single exhaust nets around 15 HP which is def a nice gain, but it also costs $950. For the price yours looks sick as hell and def sounds nice too... ohh and one more thing, the stock exhaust weighs around 60 lbs, an aftermarket can be as light as 7 (amuse R1 titanium)... but all in all yours looks good, sounds good and for the price you cant beat it

Self satisfaction FTW!!!

i whole point of doing this exhaust is to keep the stock resonator to keep the noise down. if i was going to remove the res, i would have made a whole cat back. i don't think the stock res will cause that much power loss.

understandable, however i dont think it helped with keeping the noise down.. i had a TP on mine with the duals and was light on noise down low and BAM in vtec.. just like yours...

well, i'm not going to do a test pipe but i might do a high flow cat later on.
anyone know how much HP is expected from a high flow cat? if it's only a couple hp, i'm not even going to bother.
