Default Rebuilding B-Series Transmission, Opinions on Mixed/Swapped Gears?

i'm looking for some input on my transmission situation here.
i have a turbocharged obd0 b16a with an S1 tranny currently sitting in my 94 hatchback (long story). i drove the car for two summers on the stock clutch, so let's just say that it's toast.
anyhow, i ordered in an ACT XTSS and Streetlite flywheel for it in the winter, and just picked up a 91 LS tranny with plans for a 5th gear swap. the last piece of the puzzle is an OBX LSD which should arrive in the next day or so.
basically, i'm starting over with my car, focusing primarily on building the most fun daily driver i can. the new setup will include my new ATP gt28rs, custom topmount, 3" dp and exhaust, yadda yadda. i'm shooting for 230-250whp low boost, and 320-350whp high boost (dual stage manual), and revving to about 8800rpm (ITR cams).

now, with those numbers in mind, and my goal of having a fun streetcar that sees a few passes at the dragstrip, what do you all think i should use for a transmission?
b16 tranny w/LS 5th?
straight up LS?

a friend and i were talking about all this, and came up with the idea of running the LS tranny, but swapping in the S1 3rd and 4th gears. i think it could provide the best acceleration, but will still have a super tall 5th for highway cruising.

ratios can be found here:
http://www.geocities.com/Motor...s.htm

as always, money is an issue, and i'm hoping to make something work really well with the parts i already have if i can.
thanks for reading, and any input is greatly appreciated!

well, i already have both of these transmissions in my posession, and i'd really like to make due with what i have to save some cash.
i'm thinking that having gears 1-4 closer in ratio will help with acceleration, and then 5th would serve as a big overdrive.
has anyone used an S1 and LS back to back on a turbocharged b16a?
did the LS seem too tall?

that's kind of the point though...
i'm not looking for better acceleration in 5th gear. it'll only serve at a highway gear. i'm tired of 4000+ rpms on longer drives.
i'm looking for more opinions on mixing the 1-4 gears for acceleration.
my S1 is already apart, and a few of the synchros need replacing anyway, so i'm looking to take advantage while everythings opened up.

here's what the gearing would look like with the LS 1st and 2nd, S1 3rd and 4th, and LS 5th:
1. 3.166
2. 1.857
3. 1.458
4. 1.107
5. 0.742

it looks like i'd be spacing out 1st and 2nd, and really tightening 2nd and 3rd. i'm thinking that this would help overall acceleration with my little engine.
agree/disagree?
