JDM Type-R valve cover installed...
Ok, first i'm going to touch on a few things, since i searched and searched before i bought my valve cover....but never found an answer to:
1 - There are no issues with putting the JDM Type R Valve cover on, except...there are no holes for the wires and such to the right of the valve cover...this honestly is no issue...i used a zip tie and a little rubber tape to make sure it sat securely and didnt rub against the valve cover.
2 - The breather tube on the JDM valve cover is wider than stock, you cannot reuse the stock clamp, but the hose will fit over it.
3 - I had a pain in the *** time getting the longer screws out on the stock spark plug cover...i ended up intentionally breaking the stock spark plug cover to get the bolts out so i could then get the nuts off - if you replace the spark plug cover you'll know what i'm talking about! The pic below shows what screws i'm talking about! (If you don't want to break your spark plug cover...the nuts do actually come apart from the bolt, i just wasnt able to get a strong enough grip on the bolt, if you have a vice you should be fine!)
Other than that...i bought a new valve cover gasket, didnt use any type of sealant, it's not neccessary. Take your time removing the plastic cowl around the windshield wipers...it's not difficult to remove, but if you force it off you can break things. Total time of installation ~1.5 hours.
Here are a few pics!
Oohhh, thanks fedex!
Mmmm, JDM newspaper...

Sorry for the bad lighting!
For anyone not sure how to remove the valve cover...it's pretty straight forward, thanks to BCJ fo the easy to follow write up!

OH MAN..that's beautiful.
You need to lose the i-VTEC silver cover and expose the full beauty of that red wrinkle finish. When I put the valve cover on my previous RSX-S, I left it off to show the full glory. Just my .02, if you like it, leave it the way it is.

Re: JDM Type-R valve cover installed... (Nighthawk R18)
Looks much better, I just picked my GGM Si up Saturday morning, I was thinking about making this one of my first mods, as you already know I'm sure the engine compartment is pretty cramped, did that cause any issues during the install? Just curious.

The small engine compartment wasn't an issue, once you remove the shroud around the wipers and the heat shield below that...

I thought it only read incorrectly because of the height of the JDM valve cover... which would mean that the US dipstick reads wrong now, right?

Looks great though! Did the RSX's have a similar issue with the dipstick?

I'll check when I get home to be sure, but I remember holding both dipsticks side by side and they were the same.
Again, I'll confirm later, but I'm 99% sure.

I just called the 800# on the paper and it's for Samco Financial Services. You can't see the full name because of the fold in the paper.
The things I do when I am bored at work
Install looks good BTW.
