question about CTR cams
i might want to buy a set up of ctr cams off this guy but i want to know what kinda gains am i looking at here? i drive a 2000 civic SI(R) and those cams should drop right in with no problems right? they also come with a set of AEM cam gears. are there any people using this setup or have experience with them? i would like to know as much info as possible thanks! oh yea and how much do think they are worth (used for 20,000km)?

Get the CTR intake cam and the ITR exhaust cam . For tuning you'll need some type of V-Tech controller (to dial in the cams) your car is OBD-2 ,so you could just get a chipped p28 and a jumper harness.
Oh ya, The gains from these cams probably about 7-10 horsepower with tuning its not a mod you'll really notice but the cams will help as you keep tuning you'r car. If you want some gains and a pretty much stock idle stay with the factory (ITR,CTR) cams
If you'r looking for larger gains go with stage 2 skunks or type three jun cams or stage three skunks. Hope that helps.

When I upgraded to CTR cams I definately noticed a difference. Get the CTR intake cam at least. As far as the AEM's, I had a set on my old car, and they slipped once, which I was not happy with. My friend H-T user "Opi" just put a set on, and one of the bolts was stripped, after just 2 dyno sessions on the previous owners car, w/an experienced tuner. If you can afford it, upgrade the valvetrain, TypeR would work very well.
FYI, the CTR intake cam has 3 degrees more duration NOT higher lift!
The 95+ ITR cams have 3 deg. less duration, with lift and everything else
being equal.
About the AEM cam gears I have had mine for 2 1/2 years and have never had them slip after adjustments make sure there tourqued to spec and you shouldn't have any problems with those gears

There has been talk about the exhaust cam on the 2000 up ITR being identical to the CTR that's why a lot of them dyno higher the 97-99 ITR's. There was a big debate because the cams were being made i na diff facility in Japan and blah blah blah.
I have see nwith my own eyes how the PY and FB ITR's do seem to be faster stock for stock for some weird reason.

The exhaust cams of all the ITRs and the CTR are exactly the same.
Vinceman: Yes, a CTR intake and/or both CTR cams will do just fine with a 2000 GSR ECU. You will want to adjust the vtec x-over a little higher and then adjust the fuel map between the stock vtec engagement point and the new point, with a VAFC. You will see decent gains over stock cams.
BlackANESE: Can you verify that the 00-01 ITRs have the same intake cam as the CTRs? Some H-T members claim to have measured the cams and found differences and my friend who works for Honda Verno in Japan verified that they have different part numbers in Japan.
