NOVA Peeps - Stop bitching about your weather and man up
Supposedly this is how Canadians do it. Prepare to be blown away................
Description and pictures taken from z1000.net
"This is how we do it up here in Canada. My buddy Devin rode his brand new 1000RR all winter. He managed to stretch a 4.5" dirtbike tire onto his rim that usually takes a 190. He actually got the dirtbike tire to seal with a bead (no tube required) and then studded the tire so he could ride it on the snow and ice. He checked the air pressure every time he rode it because he wasn't sure how well dirtbike tires hold air without tubes... turned out fine all winter."
This photo is awesome, squidly behavior aside, its friggin sweet
That is sweet! btw, I never bitch about weather
The only thing that will stop me from riding are 34° & below, and road salt. That is one sick *** idea with the tyre though. I would ride through snow all day!

here is a post from the same guy & same forum with the inevitable safety disclaimer...
"I know that we're all big boys here, but I do have to caution you on trying this... Devin was a semi-professional MX rider for 15 years, and still wiped out 3 times last winter, once in traffic. If you ever get ice or frost on the roads where you live, be very carefull... If you just want to go rip up a dirt road or empty field... giver hell."

The difference in Canada is that it's winter for a few months non-stop. Here you can have 60° one day, a foot of snow the next and then it be gone two days after that. I'd like to see him run that tire on asphalt.

He's using it, and having fun with it - what more can you ask from a motorcycle? Much better than most of the poseur muppets that ride sportbikes that spend more time polishing than riding.
If the bike had sat in a garage under cover 90% and then crashed on the street you wouldnt say the same thing at all.
Edit: why is someone from socal telling nova to man up about the weather?
I rode home in 50 degree rain last night. Suckit.
