You need an HX/EX/GX pan from a 96-00 Civic. Besides being an aluminum pan, the internal design is different. The main difference being added baffling throughout the pan.

Hmmm, when I priced one out about 6 months ago it was around 80 bucks....I would look for a used one and get it cleaned, shouldn't be more than 40-50 shipped.

any 96-00 d16 will fit

d16y7
d16y5
d16y8
d16b5

they all fit.

if the y5 is too expensive, look at the cost of the steel y7 one.

I have an aluminum oil pan from my gx, 80 shipped and it's yours.

I realize that they're different. But the question is, will it fit?

my vote = yes

it's amazing what 90 seconds in a honda parts catalog will tell you

2000 civic HX
11200-P2J-000 PAN, OIL
11251-P2J-000 GASKET, OIL PAN
11000-P2E-810 BLOCK ASSY., CYLINDER (DOT)
11300-PLC-020 COVER ASSY., R. SIDE

2000 civic DX
11200-P2E-000 PAN, OIL
11251-P2A-014 GASKET, OIL PAN (OTSUKA POLYTEC)
11000-P2E-810 BLOCK ASSY., CYLINDER (DOT)
11300-PLC-020 COVER ASSY., R. SIDE

blocks are the same, rear main seals are the same, oil pan and oil pan gasket is different

2000 d16y7 DX oil pan will fit 2000 d16y5 HX engine. use DX oil pan gasket.

mm, i just assumed that they wouldn't work. i had to look into this a while back and came to the conclusion that i needed a y7 pan for my y7 engine. but it looks like you found the answer anyways.
