Default Sticky 3rd Gear???

I remembered when I was out buying the car and test driving the demo model, I noticed that sometimes it didn't feel like it was going into 3rd. It wasn't as smooth as it should be. Now when I bought my car... it wasn't like that.

Anybody else has that problem or was it just me and the demo car?

When my Si is cold, shifting into 3rd is very notchy, and I grind it sometimes.

Many, many Si owners report this, and it will happen to you at some point.

Search for this, and I'm sure you'll find many posts on this very issue. But, yes, 3rd ranges from slightly annoying to a real PITA for some people.

So, yeah, search and you'll find some complaints and ideas on how to address it.

I have the same thing. Didn't I hear somebody say that their problem got better after buying a short shifter?

I test drove an '06 Coupe, and I had a hard time getting it into 3rd too.. though when I hammered it around 5k, it went in easier.. *puzzled*

Damn dealer didn't have a 5spd. Accord..

i still have this problem, and it isnt just when its cold. it happens more when its cold, but not only when its cold. im not taking it to honda because they'll just say its driver error and they were unable to duplicate the problem and blah blah blah. havent heard anything about a short shifter fixing it though. i just dont wanna keep grinding going into 3rd because i dont feel like dealing with that can or worms in the long run

I and several others on here have installed the Comptech Short Shifter, which has made the shift into 3rd gear a more stable one. And it also makes driving on back roads more fun . After 300 miles of use on it, my only complaint is that it has made the shift to 6th a bit more of a PITA, but I rarely put it in 6th.

However, if you are going to have a dealership look at it, have them look at it before installing the SS. Otherwise they may claim that it is causing the problem.

Ive noticed this more and more as the weather begins to change here. It will feel like its in but its not then i have to jam it in. i ordered some bushings hopefully that will help. Anyone know where to get the base bushings? I ordered the shifter ones.

My sticky third gear was the result of a synchro problem. THey had to orrder gear sets for 3rd and 4th gear. They have to remove the tranny. My car was in the shop for a week.
