Default starter grind with aftermarket flywheel......

i recall some people haveing the same problem i'm having with my starter and aluminium flywheel. most of the time it will start up fine........but somtimes when i go to crank it over i'll get a grinding sound......

does anyone remember if there is a easy fix for this? maybe shift the starter around a little? modify the starter teeth?

thanks

You will need to file down the starter gear teeth. It is due to the starter teeth tolerances.

it's made by a small company. not very popular right now........but they tested it on many differnt engines (B16, B18) and only some will grind........maybe it's the starter type?

In that case, it might be the flywheel ring gear. Filing the stater teeth may or may not fix your problem if it has to do with the ring gear not made to the correct specs.

Thought I read somewhere that you could sub a civic starter to cure the grinding on some of those flywheels... Might be something under the search..
