There are extra air control openings on the flange of the mani. You will have to close them before you bolt it up. I think most people use JBWeld. Also there will be an extra nipple on the back of the mani that you will have to cap off.

auto = no IACV. 5 speed = IACV. You have to drill the manifold out (pain in the ***) if you wish to add an IACV.

First 2 posts should be deleted, post 3 should be clarified.

All auto Y8s run off a 3 wire IACV system. With that being said the manifold is not tapped for 2 wire IACV like the manual systems are. With this problem if you try to put an auto manifold on any D series minus HX, and D16y7 your going to have a major idle problem. HX and D16y7 run off 3wire IAC, so a good upgrade for these motors would be the ever so cheap Auto D16y8 intake manifold, its a plug and play to there throttle body. Now with all that being said to fix an auto y8 to run off the other D series motor youll have to drill and tap for 2wire IAC systems. Its a very easy process due to the moldings being there so it shows you were to drill and tap. Although i always line up my IAC to prepare it to be tapped and such so i wouldnt have any problems.

Now what turbotag was saying is also a problem you might run into but not a big one.

99-00 Y8 intake manifolds (doesnt matter weither its auto or manual) run an injector air source thing (pretty stupid if you ask me) and they need to be welded (either by JB weld or a good welder with aluminium. Either way its a simple fix to the problem, if you cover the holes you could run the manifold on any D series from 88 to 00 with no idle problem do to this problem.

Best manifold is the 96-98 manifold due to no air holes like the 99-00 and it could be put on any D series from 88 to 00. Even though the 99-00 have the stupid air injector system you could still run a non air injector manifold on them without a problem (tells you how important that system is huh )

Heres a picture of the tapping (not one that im proud of) with the holes set to be drilled out:

Ill try to get a picture of the air injector manifolds compared to nons later. I cant find one right now.

Thanks for clarifying It's been a while since I did mine. Mine came from a 5 speed anyway.

I thought the iacv was on the throttle body not the manifold itself.

for 96-98 you will need to cap off the air injector in the middle of the manifold.

I think you meant cause I won't have to fill the air holes. What about throttle cable issues?

ya. i been reading about doing some upgrades on my d16y7 motor. more were leaning towards it doesnt made that much of a differents. i ended up just doing y8 IM and it was a big notice (pull harder from Mid to top-end). if your running the stock y7 IM i would highly recommand doing the IM swap.

Default Throttle Body Cable Plate

I'm about to swap a D16Y8 manifold onto my Y7 motor. I was planning on using my Y7 throttle body, but the throttle body cable plate looks to be oriented the wrong way. It doesn't look like the throttle cable will attach at a good angle. Do I need to change that as well?
