honda del sol d16y8
i have a 1994 honda del sol with a d15b7 engine in it right now what all would i need to put a d16y8 in to it also would i have to convert from obd-1 to obd-2

Nothing, but to make VTEC work, you need a VTEC computer (P28 = obd1 VTEC SOHC ECU) and wiring. It might be easier to just get a wiring harness that already has the VTEC plug in it, but other than that, the Y8 is a direct swap for the most part. Only thing that will have to be re-used is your D15's Dizzy (obd1 dizzy).
Me and my friend dropped a Y7 into his CX hatch without a problem. Just remember the dizzy has to be the OBD1, so take that from your D15.
Even tho its OBD2, the motor's plugs are all the same (from my experience) and you will end up with left over plugs on the motor that the harness doenst support, such as crank angle sensor, thats an OBD2 sensor on the y8. Just run a p28 and you will be fine.
