Default B16A block, GSR head - what head studs?

Hey Everyone,

Tried a search but didn't find a solid answer, so I'd hope someone can give me the correct answer.

I have a b16a1 block, 95 b18c GSR head. Now I need headstuds and I've asked around to distributors and they say I can use 16A or 18C1 head studs, either will work, but to just go with the GSRs on the safe side. Well personally I don't want to go "on the safe side", I'd rather get the right head studs.

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks!!

haha a little impatient are we?

Anyhow, this isn't meant to confirm what is what, but in hopes it will generate some discussion and hopefully somebody can say with certainty what is the proper application.

To the best of my knowledge, all Bseries heads are the same height. The main differences are the combustion chamber volumes and some are vtec/non-vtec.

I ASSume the difference in headstud/headbolt length is due to fact the 16A/17A are shorter overall than the 18/20 blocks.

So as I discussed with SPD DMN, it SHOULD make sense that for the different applications listed on Golden Eagle/ARP etc. that the 18C studs include the C1, C5, LS-VTEC, while the 16A/17A are lumped together as one.

I still say the best thing to do is compare an OEM 16A headbolt to an OEM 18C headbolt and go from there.

Discuss or confirm please.

If you're using a b16 block, use the B16 head studs. The GSR studs are for use with the taller deck b18 blocks. If you compare the the distance between the surface of the head and the head bolt mounting surface on both the GSR and the B16 head, you will find that they are the same.

Whoops, my bad.

I didn't read the title correctly. My brain stopped working earlier.

B16 studs.

I thought it said GSR block, B16 head.
