Default Tech Help Needed: Hatchback latch

Looking for any insight before I begin tackling this. A search didn't return anything.

Hatchback unlocks as it should, audible. When latch handle is used to open, the hatch will not open. If the key is inserted, turned to the open position, and held then the hatch opens.

Obviously it sounds like a latch-mechanism problem. Anyone had this problem?

common problem. Replace the latch mechanism. I replaced mine 6 months before I took it out to build the race car.

$50 shipped. (It was $74 from acura)

mine is still being fixed by the dealer under warranty. So far they ordered a new latch and they also had to order the acuator (i might be wrong on the name and part for that one). The last part hasnt come in yet but it should be completely fixed by wed or thurs. By then I can tell you for sure what parts I needed from the invoice
