Default OT - MOMO STEERING HUB FOR ITR

fellas-dont know if any of you can offer some words of experience, but i need some advice. i gave a friend a momo steering wheel hub for use in his itr in trade for something else.

anyway, now he has the issue of the automatic signal cancellation not working with the hub. the signal switch will not automatically return unless manually done when taking a turn. i've never used a momo hub before (got the one i traded as a gift), so i'm not familiar with this problem. i did run a jdm itr srs wheel for a while and on wide turns, it cancelled fine but narrow turns i needed to turn if off manually also. from what my buddy describes, the auto cancell wont work at all, wide or narrow turns, without manually doing it himself.

the momo i gave is made specifically for a dc2/eg. i dont know if the hub is broken or its just something we have to live with if we run it...or could it be an installation mix-up? i dont know if this is a common trait among other momo hub users but from what my buddy says, he had 2 other momo hubs and never had the prob before

PLEASE help or direct me to some info...it would much appreciated-

This happens because the hub needs the SRS real/horn controller to be removed. I know of no signal cancellation working after the installation of a Momo hub. I have to do mine manually as well.

thats the thing...i hear some people who have no issues, and some who have the same problem as us. thats the reason why i'm posing the question that could it possibly be in the install?

alright, i dug thru the archives and found that some people had to make some adjustment on the hub reaching down deep enough to reach the signal cancellor...something about some tabs not reaching the notches. some used some washers to bridge that gap. if someone who has gone thru this can elaborate, that would be FANTASTIC.

anyway, i'm hoping this thread will ALSO help others out there who are suffering the same ordeal. it doesnt make ANY sense at all that some users have no probs and some do even when using the same exact model hub in the same car

I had this issue too. You have the wrong hub. I ended up getting a different hub that "reaches down further" to hit the cancel thing. I'll try to find you the picture and part number of what you need.

I'm pretty sure the hub you need is #4911

okay, tommy's post makes A LOT of sense now. i remember hearing that momo has two versions of their hub that fits the dc2/eg, with the difference being one is for a car with cruise control, and one without. physically, both will work, but apparently the model that comes WITHOUT cruise control seems to have a longer spline than the hub that comes WITH cruise.

this didnt occur to me and only now did i hear of this. the hub i sent my friend came from another ITR so i felt it should work no problem. anyway, i hope this saves someone else the headache later on

I have no issues with my momo hub + momo wheel. My horn and signal cancellation works flawlessly.

The corrrect momo hub is the #4911, same one as the EG civics.

Since that is covered, how does one make the horn button work through a MOMO hub? I'd like to see pictures and a write up on that.

I have yet to figure this out although there are a few threads in the archives about it. I just cant seem to find the horn wire ANYWHERE under the dash. Inspection in a month too

You know when you took off the SRS wheel ribbon? There was that small wiring harness that had something like three or four wires in it. Two of those wires (cannot remember the colors) need to be spliced. One is the 12v+ and the other is the ground to chasis.

The horn button makes the final link in a loop so to speak. The horn button needs 12v constant, going to it and when you press the horn button, it grounds to the chasis and the remaining power also grounds out so you don't blow fuses, burn the wire, waste your battery or whatever.

The problem that I've had is trying to devise a simple way to run the wire for the horn so that it doesn't tangle around the splined steering wheel column. Once the sheething in the wire has been broken, it will then ground out and cause the horn to go off until you break the ground. It's a small PITA.
