Default Oil return through the oil filler cap

I am wondering if it is possible to have the oil return go up through the oil filler cap. I hear that the return in gravity fed. Is this true?

This is certainly possible, but not reccommended.

You would have to rig some kind of pump that could push the oil uphill into the cap. The amount of rigging involved in plumbing and electrical, plus the life expectancy of the pump, would be much more work than just plumbing it downhill into the pan. Of course if your turbo drain is lower than the oil level in the pan, you already need a pump.

Unless you are forced to do it because of turbo placement, it is just not worth it IMHO.

Dumping it into the dip stick tube is a better yet equally stupid idea.

Interesting.....

How 'bout some more info as to why you think you have to do it this way? There are numerous methods that would seemingly be safer and easier than what you have suggested.

no i dont think this topic is done...i mean this is a GREAT idea.....lets elaborate on how this would work.....so you just have a 50 gallon drum you mount on your hood, so that when it dumps into the atmosphere......you add a pump in the drum and turn it on when your fuel pressure is getting low....any more ideas guys.......this has gotta be something we need to investigate...LOL!!!!!
