emissions warranty letter
I read something like that when I was waiting to get my smog done at a shop....and something like that is also written in my Haynes manual...I called the dealer, but too bad it doesn't include 98's

I would do that...just so acura could basically do a free tune up for me! What do they mean by "...providing owners with certain 1195, 1996, and 1997 vehicles of the following benefits."? Certain Integra's, TL's, RL, etc?

Do not use a friend's cluster when taking ur car to a dealer. The dealer records all mileage and then submits the infomation to the DMV, then the info gets nto the hands of CarFax.
You car will be tagged as "Milege Rollback Recorded", if another service station recorded ur car with a higher mileage.
Anyways, I got my done in 1999. They sent me a letter saying that there was a issue with the OBDII equipment in 1996 and newer vehicle. And that if your check engine light is on, you can take it in and have them repair it for free.
My car was a 1996, My check engine like was on. So I took it there.
Came back with a car wash, vacuumed carpets, oil change and no more check engine light.
Great service...... Took them a long azz time though.

Oh yeah, any sign of modification would void this free tune-up / warranty extension.......
intakes, headers, aftermarket plug wires, etc...

you'll be fine regardless of what state you're from. as far as the test pipe goes, you should be fine too. when they finished everything, my check engine light went on (which it does from time to time). they said the code refered to a bad catalytic converter that related to my aftermarket exhaust (comptech) that i have that voids that part of the warranty. so they said that that's my problem, pretty much... but everything else was cool. again, even though i didn't even have the original engine, they still did all the work for me... plugs, wires, rotor, distributor, etc... it could just end up depending on the dealership you go to... they could just say whatever they want. however, you're not paying them... but if they do the work, honda/acura of america picks up the tab... good luck ya'll
I am stickying this, as it could help many people.
Has anyone had success with any aftermarket catalytic converter? I currently have a JDM ITR catalytic converter on my 97 GSR. I may swap the stock one back along with the header to take advantage of the free tuneup.

Yes you can go,you do not need to be the original owner. But the original owner might of allready takin the car in for this. And all you need to do is call up your local Acura/Honda dealership and give them your vin and make an appointment for an emisions control inspection. Its all in the letter if you read it
