I'm cashing in on this today with my '97 GSR with 78,000. It has a chipped OBD-IIa ECU, but the communications still work. We'll see what they do.

My chat with the service representative indicated that this warranty extension was initiated due to vehicles underperformingfor mileage compared to the window sticker. Mine was rated at 25/31 IIRC and I typically get 30+ in mixed driving.

Here is what they replaced:
Qty P/N Desc
1 06300-P72-306 Ignition Kit (wires, cap, rotor, and ignitor for warranty?)
4 98079-56A7H Spark Plugs

They also replaced the engine oil and filter. They also checked
all the fluids
the battery
the wiper blades
the horn
the air filter
CV joints and boots
Exhaust
engine belts
shocks
brake lines and cables
clutch operation
coolant hoses and clamps

They also lubricated the chassis and washed the car. Not a bad deal.

That's not why it was done.

The emissions warranty extension to 150,000 miles/14 years for '96-97 model year Honda and Acura vehicles was created because the federal government found that Honda had improperly implemented some components of the OBD-2 emissions control system (namely the misfire detection component) after its use became a federal requirement in 1996. An agreement to extend warranties was made by Honda to avoid further legal issues.

There were two parts to the warranty extension. The first part involved a free partial tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, wires) and an oil change, and was offered once per vehicle. The second part involved coverage of most emissions related failures causing a Check Engine light (other than transmission faults) and is good to 150,000 miles or 14 years from the vehicle's in-service date. No goodwill service will be considered if the vehicle is outside of these limits.

The '95 listed in your signature isn't covered.

They should be able to run the VIN and tell you if the extended warranty is applicable.
