I dont know where you read that. They're only doing this service because of the federal clean air act and california regulations.

I've worked as an acura tech as long or longer than this site has existed, and according to me.

The facts

It will cover most models built (honda or acura) in 1996 and 1997 It was due to poor detection of misfires I believe(I can check if you want).

Anyway It will cover you for a free scan 50-75k miles and 75-150k miles(check for codes fix any that are there)
And a free tune up and oil change from 75-150k) they intend it to compliment a normal service like a 90k or 105k whenever you get plugs

It also will cover almost anything that will cause the mil to come on that you didn't cause, ie it will cover worn sensors, cats, stuff like that but not blown head gaskets causing a misfire, or tampering on your part. Also anything that is a result of accident damage or outside influence like flood damage, not covered.

I hope that clarifies it, and yes its 50 states, i think the exemptions were type r's ?NSX's and SLX's most other models get it.

This is not true, you can go in any time if your car has a P0420 and the cat is found to be bad(which this code usually indicates) and you havnt tampered with the cat, it's sensors or anything that will blatantly kill a cat. But you don't have to fail smog, in fact in the state I live all smog is on an obd2 car is them hooking up a scanner checking monitors dtcs and your gas cap(which is redundant).

so is this for od2 cars only? the letter includes 1995 vehicles so does that mean a 95 obd1 is eligible?

YES ITS OBD2 ONLY AS IT WAS HONDAS FIRST ATTEMPT AT OBD2 PROGRAMMING AND THEY BOTCHED IT.

There were some 95 vehicles that are actually just early 96's (the example that comes to mind and the only one I have seen is the 95 2.5 TL never seen an integra with this)

Only 96-97, not type r, not nsx, not slx, as far as mods it is at there discretion, and it typically wont cover things that make the light come on like headgasket failure, engine failures(mechanical) and valve ajustment etc. It only goes for 14 years and 150k.

Stop looking the gift horse in the mouth, seriously what manufacture has ever ran anything even close to this.....

Was anyone able to do this with a salvage title? Every Acura dealer within a 15 mile radius of my house (like 8 of them) all refused to do the service because my car carried a salvage tile.
