Default some insight... tie rod part i think

**** i have a problem... happens everytime i inspect my car. LoL

in the picture below, the parts i have circled are torn into pieces. i believed that was to be the steering rack, but the hondaparts page listed them not part of the rack so i was confused... now i called the dealership and they told me tierod dust boot which made a little happier because it saved me 400$. should i replace them dust boots? or leave it alone?

yeah that's what i was thinking too. but i really want to do something about it. might get so much crap in there that it might turn into a problem. my steering is really sensitive. itat first i thought it was jacking up my turns because it's responsive ... but then i realized it's lighter lighter than the 00 accord i drive daily sooo it should be like that.

Pic don't work dude.

If the dust boot is ripped on the tie rod end replace it. Dirt will just get in there and the grease will leak out, if it hasn't already, and then the tie rod end will go to ****. Replace it.

Yeah, don't spend $40 on new boots, instead let dirt and water get into your steering rack until it goes bad and you spend $$$hundreds instead.

Not too smart.

Its not too easy for someone doing it for their first time. But it'll save you a bunch of money in the long run, cause if you don't you'll have to replace your steering rack eventually.

change them both (tie rod and boot), it's not a hard of a job. Just remeber to put the new tie rod at the same position, mark it or count the thread. After that an alignment is needed. I think the rod are like 65 each. So it may cost like 250

yeah those are called dust boots (below boots). Yes replace them ASAP unless you want the seals to get eaten by the dirt on the rack, and that **** will start leaking.

Before you start taking **** apart, mark the tire rods where they join, so don't throw your alligment off by much. I suggest getting one done anyways after the install.

I just replaced mine a few months back. It was ~$50 for both in parts, and it took me about 45 minutes from start to finish.

Search on here for tie rod replacement, you will find a few DIY how-to's. It's really not that hard. But you should get an alignment afterwards.
