Ok. So I got this idea from a friend to build a lsvtec in my civic that already has a b16a in it. It interested me but i wasnt sure how to go about it. Until I came upon a lsvtec write up by Big Teggie. He did a great job writing up on how to build up the block. But didnt really delve into the instalation of the engine and setting up the kit for the lsvtec. I am going to try and go over the building of the block and also the instalation of a Golden Eagle lsvtec kit. And then eventually the instalation of the engine. Right now I dont have the pictures back but i should get some up soon. So I will put up the list of parts I bought and where i got them from.

I sourced the block from this site. It already had the deck tapped. It also already had a vtec water pump and oil pump. The pistons that were in it were CTR's but i couldnt handle that compression ratio so i sold them. So far I have the block completly put together and I am just waiting for some parts. I should be putting the engine together next month.

Looks like a nice setup. Check out my build.
It is very similar.
I will tell you one thing. You'll want some cams to go along with that. Trust me.

its actually suprising how similar the builds are. A lot of the same parts. I want cams and new head internals but it just isnt going to happen for a while. Maybe when I scrape up about 2g I will do the head. lol. The head is the next thing i will do after the engine is in. I have looked around and I think i will be getting a Blox intake manifold. s2s2 cams and some good valves springs etc. Expensive stuff though! Thanks for the post.

well that doesnt help now does it! lol. Good info for potential lsvtecers. All the parts listed are the cheepest i could find them through hours of searching. A good source is ebay of course. But be careful buying from ebay and on here. You cant give the guy bad feedback that is on his name if you get scamed on honda-tech.

After looking at my engine bay the swap doesnt look that hard. Although I am sure I will run into many hurdles that will require a lot of swearing. I am going to be doing the actual swap the 17th-20th. I hope it wont take the whole 4 days to do it but who knows.

Ok, here is one picture of all of the stuff I have right now. that is pretty much all the lsvtec stuff. I am only missing the head studs that are comming the third. In the pic I have my block all put together (I will post pics on how i put it together later) with the golden eagle kit on it. My DC sports header. A big bar for getting tight bults loose. I will post some pics of some of the other stuff later.

I didnt take as many pictures as I hoped I would but puting together the block is actually pretty easy.
Here is a picture of the P30 pistons and the shotpeened pr4 rods with arp rod bolts.

This is the crank sitting in the block. Nothing special.

I put the main caps on and used plastigauge. But then i forgot that I had Arp main studs comming so i had to take them off again to put it on the arp's. Sorry i dont have a picture of the arp studs in. pretty much the same picture

Here is the pic of the oil pump with ultra gray gasket maker on it. I dont have pics of the water pump going one because it was already on the block and its 22t so its vtec. No need to take it off.

The oil pump instaled.

Here is the rear main seal instaled.

These are the piston rings I got. They werent that bad putting on. So you really dont need a tool to spread the rings. I didnt get pictures of the pistons on rods and with the rings on. Sorry.

Here are the pistons instaled. By far the hardest part of putting the block together was getting the pistons in! Ah it was such a bitch! It might not have been hard to other people but this was the first time I put together a block. When i finaly got the last piston in i chucked the wring compressor across my room.

Here is the windage tray

And it instaled. The tray just barely cleared the arp main studs. It was a tight fit.

Here is the oil pick up.

And here it is intaled.

Here is the oil pan. You might see some **** in it but dont worry i whiped that out. Before instaling anything I made sure it was whiped down and clean.

Here is the oil pan instaled.

This is a pic of the GSR cams, arp assembly lube, normal assembly lube, ultra gray gasket maker, and the arp main stud box which now is my product sticker holder.

These are some of the liquids I'm useing there is the Honda tranny fluid, the Mobil 1 which im not going to use for oil right away, at first Im going to use normal oil for the break in, there is wd40 which is good for cleaning, the plastigauge, and behind the wd40 is that damn wring compressor!

The chilton manuals. Great help and a good read on the *******.

This is the Golden Eagle head gasket sitting in position with the dowel pins on the outer exhaust side holes.

The next photo update will have the golden eagle sandwich plate in with the oil feed hose put on. Also I should have the complete engine swap and pictures.

maybe when i have an extra 500 dollars laying around I will pick up another one. But for now the dc will do. Kinda hard to go all out on a header when you work part time at minimum wage. The DC was cheap and is better than stock exhaust manifold.

yeah, its nothing crazy. I just wanted a bit more hp. I will probably do some head work in about 6 months or so. Thats where the power is really at. But for now im sure i will be happy with the lsvtec. Running low 14s will be fun.

You'll be faster than low 14's.
I ran 14.06 on a rough street tune with 600 miles on my LSVTEC. That was in a '98 coupe, too.
You'll be 13's for sure... With some nice cams.
