Default Mild NA LS/Vtec Build

I am working on a basic and very mild LS/Vtec. Right now I am working on the block, and figured I would snap pictures of some of the work so far. Hopefully more updates to come.

Some engine specs...

Block
1993 B18A Block (honed, hot tanked, and thoroughly inspected)
LS Crank (balanced and micropolished)
ACL Main, Rod, and Thrust Bearings

LS Rods (ARP bolts and BE refinished)
B16 PR3 Pistons (Bead blasted and cleaned)
Hastings Piston Ring Set

GSR Oil and Water pumps (less than 20k miles)
GSR Crank pulley
LS Oil pan, windage tray, and pickup
Brand new OEM headgasket, oil pan gasket, from and rear main seals, oil pump seals, timing belt, etc...

Head
2000 B16 Head
Port and Polished
3 Angle Performance Valvejob
Milled .005"

B16 Valvetrain
GSR Cams

Ported B16 Manifold

New cam seals, vtec sol gasket, im and header gasket, valve seals, valvecover gasket, etc...

The block cleaned with a fresh hone

Crank

Checking clearances with plastigauge. Everything was well in spec and turned out great

Crank Installed

Some of the new gaskets, etc...

I havent calculated everything yet. Its not that cheap to build something decent and reliable.

B16 head with portwork and new valvejob.

If I can find some ITR cams cheap I will drop them in, other wise I am using stock B16 or GSR.

Hastings rings are a little cheaper compared to OEM Honda rings. They provide the same quality.

I haved used them before in other engines and have had great sucess with them.

Here is an update of how everything has been going....

Some of the specialty tools used

ACL bearings and ARP rod bolts. Noticed the small holes for measuring rod bolt stretch

Checking rod bearing clearance

Pistons, rods, and rings

Checking ring gap

All parts super clean and ready to go

Pistons installed on rings, bearings with assembly lube, and rod bolts with ARP moly lube

Installing pistons and rods, then checking bolt stretch

Pistons sitting pretty in their new home

Checking PDH
