just how much lighter is it?
i read on the sitcky faq's page that the crx hf has the lightest chassis between it the si and the dx. however the tranny is a peice. i plan on doing a b16a swap and i was wondering if the wieght difference is worth saving a few 100 on the hf and just reaplcing the tranny instead of just buying the si. ihope this makes sense im super tired
the HF is the lightest. I really don;t understand what you are saying about doing a b16 swap and then you said about replacing the tranny in stead of buying an si. Reword this please.

huh?
huh?
I think his question refers (in a way) to the fact that certain parts in an HF need/ should be replaced when doing a b16 swap, so in the end the weight difference between a b16 HF and a b16 DX might not be as much as in the beginning.
What makes an HF lighter? How much exactly does a b16 HF weigh compared to a b16 DX?

i think it depends on your level of prep and just how serious you are about weight.
some things are different, but wont matter because they'll be the same later- axles, knuckles.
some things are heavier, but may be better and are easilly swappable- sway bars, brakes
some things are heavier, but swappable or removable so you just have to do it- ac, bumper supports, sunroof assembly, doors/seatbelts .
when it really comes down to it, the shells are pretty much the same, although i've heard a lot of people question wether or not later cars or si's got more or thicker bracing. i don't have any proof other than the fact that most part numbers of the tub are in fact different part numbers, but after stripping a few cars to the shell, any differences i can see are all beneficial in the later cars. i'd even choose the extra piece of metal (maybe 2 lbs?) in the roof of an si with the sunroof removed as stiffer is better for me (autox, hpde without a full cage). ymmv.
for a daily, none of this really matters, and i'd want a sunroof.
for a race car that you aren't going to go too deep into or you want to be ahead in some areas (though behind in others), it might make a difference for you.
if you are really getting into a preped car, the only difference is the rulebook.

[QUOTE=goCRXgo]Well, they both don't have sunroof, the major weight difference in models. HF's depending on model, don't have Door mount seatbelts. And of course, their DPFI not MPFI. I don't know what other major features are left outta the HF.
how come no one though to say The HF is mpfi not dpfi. or am i wrong. i always though that the Hf was Mpfi.

the Hf is MPFI, and I also switched over my b16 swap from my crx si to my hf and I dont regret it at all. The only things that I took out of my si and stuck them in my HF were the front brakes, and interior. And even with all the si interior I still noticed the car being quicker.

compared to the DX, id say the front and rear bumpers and doors are the majority of the difference in weight. the smaller front brakes are worth mentioning too. exhaust is also lighter because of the smaller piping. aluminum wheels... lighter (more uncomfortable) seats... then i think its a bunch of nitpicking after that... (like smaller gas tank, lighter front sway bar... list goes on and on...) and on... and on...
