Hf tranny: can these be modified?

Hf tranny: can these be modified?
I posted this in the crx forum...with no luck so here goes.
I am going to swap out my hf motor for an si and was wondering can this tranny be modified by swapping out the gearing ( its geared for fuel economy not speed) with that of an si. IS this even a possibility?
