I wish I could answer your question on what exactly that plug is, because I don't know.

But I'm guessing its regarding the difference in your OBD-0 car/harness and the OBD-1 motor. I would imagine you've got more bumpstops coming if you didnt plan for this. Like transmission if it came with the motor.

Might look up OBD-0 to OBD-1 conversions...

Damn, I had asked this very same ??? before and now I can't remeber what it was. But why did you go with a B18B and not the plug and play B18A?

b18b = more power then b18a1's.

Also I believe it is water temp. but I could be wrong if there is no plug like that similar on the thermostat housing then thats what it is.

I dont think theres knock sensores on any b18b motors..

That black one with the 2 prongs is fan switch
The one right to the left of the filter is oil sending unit
The one to the left of both plugs is an oil pressure sender,,Its what makes the little light come on in the dash..</TD></TR></TABLE>
they dont have knock sensors i think ill just leave the one to the left unpluged for now. what weird is there is the 2 prong one for fan switch but there is another one on the thermostat housing like obd1 motors have.

Since you have a d15b7 let me ask you a question,,What radiator hoses did you use? Im helping a friend do the swap and we need to know ,,because the stock ones wouldnt work..

THERE IS NO KNOCK SENSOR ON THE B18A/B ENGINES....I'm 100 percent sure because when I built an lsvtec for my old car I used the b18b short block and I added a knock sensor into the block..But it didnt have one stock..

Correct, No VTEC, NO KNOCK SENSOR (B-series anyways)It almost looks to me like somebody added a knock sensor for an LS/Vtec conversion already if it's a knock sensor at all. I am not as familiar with the LS bottom end because I have not bought one yet or seen one recently. I know when I swapped out the B17 from my old GSR it had an extra plug like that and I am pretty sure it just had to do with oil pressure but I can't remember.

Yeah that is what I was thinking but like I said I was not sure, my old B17 had the same switch though.

the oil light on the dash IS what your calling 'oil sending unit'.

the one all the way on the bottom is the oil pressure sender. your seperating the same sensor and calling them 2 different ones.
the bottom one is what reads oil pressure and if it drops, it turns on the oil light on the dash.
trust me, on every motor i'ev dealt with, thats what that is. and those motors wouldnt have what he's asking about (green clip) so that CANT be what activates the light cuz then if a **** load of other motors dont have them, how would their oil light come on?

and btw, if you really look at it, the green clip is threaded into a coolant passage. that would be pointless if it was meant to turn on your oil light
