Default Complete Y7 block and head ...and either Y8 or Z6 vtec head needed to id

alright well, a buddy of mines gave me a free complete motor that is Y7 from a 97 civic dx coupe if that matters. He also gave me a free single cam vtec that either is Z6 or an Y8. How can I tell which vtec head I have? This head that my buddy gave me said that the head itself is already milled, port and polished, and an 3 angle valve job. Another thing is I did alittle research on the compression between the y7 block and either z6 or y8 heads. The Y7 block with Z6 head is 9.62:1 compression while the y8 head is 9.96:1 compression. but I like the idea of having Zc piston with either z6/y8 head.

could the zc piston will fit fine in the y7 block with the vtec head ?
ZCblock Y8head- 12.61:1 compression
ZCblock Z6head- 12.03:1 compression

so help me out alittle here to get me started

the z6 head will have 92,93,94 or 95 stamped on the front part on one of those little round things on the front of the head....at least that is how my z6 head is because it had 94 on the front

look right above the exhaust ports on the aluminum casting...there will be a circle with a line down the middle and a 9 on one side and 2-5 on the other if it is a z6 head....otherwise test fit a dizzy to it...if the a6 dizzy fits its a y8 head if the z6 dizzy fits...its a z6 head
