hooked up remote wire...everything went out..
got done switching head units and hooking up the system...connected the remote wire to the subs..and everything was fine for about 30 seconds. subs were hitting..all was well..then it started dimming and the head unit kept cutting out..and the dash lights were flickering.
my friend who was putting it in thought i needed a cap..15 seconds later...the interior lights all went and the head unit power was gone. did i blow a fuse somewhere? i checked the fuse under the hood and it wasnt blown..
i've been having odd electrical problems with my car in general..but would that be related to speaker wires?

check you battery and your alternator and the fuses under the dash. It sounds like a battery problem or your alternator went.
i just checked all my fuses. under hood and under dash..all were fine.
going outside to check alternator now..
going outside to check alternator now..
head unit flickers but wont power on..this happens only when the head lights are off.
head lights on..NO power at all to the head unit
head lights on..NO power at all to the head unit
Did you use a wire harness or did you hard wire the radio? The headlight part makes me think that you may have wired the radio's ground to the illumination lead. This would cause the radio to shut off when the headlights are on and usually will blow a fuse.
What brand radio?
What brand radio?

my friend hooked it up. from the looks of it..there was the stock harness..and another harness in there from the pioneer previously in there...and now the JVC that was just put in. its a complete clusterfuck. and me..who knows nothing about wiring.
i'll probably end up having to drop it off at a shop..but lord knows they're gonna rape me.

did u use a seprate wiring harness? your deck will have one and ur factory one will have one going out. ur story of a friend hooking up is never a good idea. lol give us some more info.
turns out all my car related problems are from the three harnesses that are in there. oem, pioneer and jvc. a lot of open wires. grounding out and touching. gonna sift through it tomorrow and figure out what is what.
