Check and make sure the connections on your battery are tight, and also make sure all the grounds under the hood are fastened down tight as well, sounds like a loose one to me.

you might have a dead battery as well. if your battery is really dead you're car will turn off. I know you said your dash lights were on, but you should bring it to autozone or whereever and have it load tested for free

Did you check ALL the fuses? i.e... do you have an aftermarket amplifier? Is it fused? When earthed, that 8AWG or 4AWG wire they tie directly to the battery and then run hap-hazardly through the passenger compartment to the trunk will drain a battery flat in no time and won't blow a single fuse in the fusebox doing it.

uhh, say what.

when those get grounded, IF, they get grounded, you'd know it. Lots of sparks, smoke and a blown or melted fuse.

not necessarily. That is the most likely option, but if your amp failed internally, it could be drawing down the battery but not drawing enough current at once to blow a fuse. Just one more thing to check. Generally, hastily-installed aftermarket options are an invitation to electrical problems.

i jump started it and it started but when you take off the positive terminal the car turns off...from what i was told this means the alternator is bad

could water cause the alternator to go bad

i have seen a problem like that when the radio cuts out and the batt is dead

get a multimeter and check ur alternator output

basically , get a new alternator cuz its not putting enough power
