What is a halfshaft???
Okay I've searched on halshafts and all I've been able to come up with is people having problems with their halfshafts and not an exact definition. My question is this, what is the halfshaft? Is it just noted as the passenger side axle? Or is it something else that connects to the axle? How if so do you combine two seperate components, the halfshaft and the axle together to make one unit? The reason I ask all this is I've been having problems with my H22 platform EG ever since I've swapped the old H23 tranny to the new H22 tranny the other day. On the previous tranny (H23) I was running the 90-93 axles on both sides and the accord intermediate shaft on the left side. But now the passenger axle keeps popping out, I was able to pull it out with just a lil bit of pressure. So I was told to run the 90-93 Integra Axle with the 90-91 Accord Half Shaft. Do I just get both axles and take it to a shop and tell them to mate them together or what? I'd appreciate any help or suggestions because I really need to solve this problem asap.
i know a kid that had a 94 civic coup with a h22 and he kept going through passenger side axles (half shafts), my best guess would be because with a non LSD tranny there is alot more strain on the shorter axle because of all the torque ni a h22 making it go through CV joints...i would get a set of stronger axles rather than keep getting stock axles for an integra
holy **** that puts everything into a new perspective thank you. I'm not breaking the axles they just keep popping out after driving like a couple hundred feet.
the half shaft or intermediate shaft is used as a bridge to cross over the shortblock from the transmission. it mounts to your shortblock and acts as an extension for your transmission.
