Default B16a vs B16a1 vs B16A2

OK i no Tottal newb Question. But i have been searching for what the difference between the 3 are and its not helping me much more confusing then helping. So someone Help.

What i have Gotten from Searching just makes no sens. I have Gotten that a B16a1 is a Euromotor and a b16a2 is USDM and a B16a is JDM.
Then i have gotten that a B16a Is obd0 and b16a1 is obd1 and b16a2 is obd2.
Then i have gotten that the b16a2 has 170hp(if i remeber right) and b16a1 is 160.

Also what do they come out of? like 2000 civic is B16a2 right what does the b16a and the b16a1 come out of?

PLEASE Clear this up for me someone.

Also i am asking because i am looking at a 96 civic Hatch where the guy says he put a JDM B16a In it. I reall Wana no will the b16a keep up with the b16a2? Or is there no difference.

Thanks for the help in advance Sorry for the Question Asked houndreds of times.

technically they are all the same, B16A, A1, A2, A3, A5 etc... the only one different is if its a B16B

if its a B16A, its older than a B16A2 or B16A3... older motors are sometimes not that great due to their age, unless a rebuild or perfect maintenance was peformed

umm.. almost there.

JDM = B16a, obd 0, 1 , or 2. Most obd0 B16a's were known as SIR-1, most obd1 were known as SIR-2.
USDM = B16a3 (obd1 only) or B16a2 (obd2 only)

Good reading: http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/b16/index.html

A b16a1 never existed.

a b16 is a b16 unless is a b16b (CTR)...unless you wanna beat out some details..building them/boosting them is all the same..the different generations and years dont make that much of a difference and the JDM 10 more HP notion is still yet to be proven...your on the right track though..

Jeebus how much misinfo:

B16A1 is the 88-91 EURO 1.6i-VT motor. 150 HP.

B16A is ALL JDM MOTOR, OBD0, 1, or 2.

B16A2 IS EURO OBD1 92-95, B16A2 USDM OBD2 96-97 DelSol VTEC, and 99-00 Civic Si

B16A3 is USDM OBD1 93-95 delSol VTEC

B16A4 is EURO OBD2.

****.

This is without going to any sites. If you're gonna be a Honda lover, learn something about them.

JDM B16, aka the b16a has higher compression than the b16a2 and also has the option for an LSD tranny. It also has less emissions **** if it's JDM.

This is the last one:

(I'll leave the Euro out this time, but I do know them as well)

B18A NonOBD 130 86-89 JDM (86-89 Accord, carb, vac distrib adv, no ECU)
B18A1 OBD0 130 90-91 USDM
B18A1 OBD1 140 92-93 USDM
B18B1 OBD1 142 94-95 USDM
B18B1 OBD2 140 96-01 USDM
B18B OBD1 145 94-95 JDM
B18B OBD2 145 96-01 JDM
B18C1 OBD1, OBD2 USDM 170 HP - GSR
B18C OBD1, OBD2 JDM 180 HP - 94-97 Si VTEC/98-01 SiRG
B18C5 OBD2, 195 USDM Type R
B18C OBD2, 197 JDM 96-97 Type R
B18C OBD2, 200 JDM Type R

There are NO 90-93 JDM "LS" motors, and yes, the first ever B18A DOHC was in those Accords with the flip up lights, and it was carbed.

I didn't give B16 power numbers, though I've probably done it 1000000000x's.

OBD0 Euro ALL = 150
OBD0 JDM Auto= 150
OBD0 JDM 5sp = 160
OBD1 Euro ALL= 160
OBD1 US ALL = 160
OBD1 JDM Auto=160
OBD2 US ALL = 160
OBD1 JDM 5sp= 170
OBD2 JDM All = 170
OBD2 Euro All = 170

They are right, as long as the motor was originally attached to a 5 speed tranny. Most times, when you order just a long block, they give you the auto version.

Also, last thing.

SiRII = trim level, not a generation.

There are EF9 SiR, and EF9 SiRII

There are EG6 SiR, EG6 SiRII, and EG6 SiR-S

This is probably the closest to 100% accurate so far on the thread, change it to USDM 94-95 VTEC for B16a3 and it's completely accurate. No VTEC in USDM in 93.

compression is a part of it, less emissions crap can't hurt, better gas less knocking, japan is a much better place for cars.

Honda rating a B16A2 at 170hp

Now this info is worse than all of the previous false info combined

Pretty hard to sticky it when half the posts in this thread are flat out wrong.
