general cost of shaving an emblem
i know there are some of you that have done this. I have a friend with a mustang that is curious about the process and i really dont know whats involved or what questions to ask a shop as far as quality of the work done. Does the entire panel that the emblem is on need to be repainted or preped???
any info in this is helpful.
TIA guys

You paid $100 for that! HA just use a blow dryer to soften the sticky stuff and be super careful with a razor blade, thats what I did and there isn't a mark on the car from it. Maybe you mean that you paid 100 to have the holes filled and if so that sounds OK but dude you got ripped if you paid 100 to have the letters removed it took me like 30 min maybe!

i'm sure he got the holes filled...
anyways, there are many methods of shaving... cheapest is bondo, which works but tends to fall out within a couple years. No big deal though, when that happens just throw an emblem over it. Bondo costs like $10 for a big ol tub or like a few dollars for a small tube. Best way is to weld. But that would require a welder. I know I dont have one laying around.

Re: general cost of shaving an emblem (csufweed)
hundred bucks huh,,,,,,hum......
so my buddy and i can remove his GT (mustang) emblem and modify it by ourselves. What he want to do is kinda different i think and could look nice. Wants to take the emblem off, trim off where it 4.6 liter under the large letters GT and the put it back on the car. would leave just the GT letters but in a different lettering style, kinda slanted italics. I think it should look ok, definatly different. But im sure there will be at least one hole under it that will need filling to look good. The bondo idea sounds good, but he wants this to look really good, and is going to be having a body kit painted and thought it might be easy for the shop to shave the emblem while he was there.
Also, what are some estimates on body kits to be painted? I know someone has had this done as well. The front and rear underbody spoiler, tonneu cover, and sideskirts. They come primed and ready for paint. I dont think the price will be TONS but im not sure.
Last one, had a quote for my hood to be repainted....100 bucks sound good???
how bout front end of my teg as well???
TIA fellas

Dont let them bondo it, pay the $ and get it done right. Bondo will pop out, especially if you have a system.
