scratched deck
Hey-
recently I got some work done at a local machine shop... I have been super busy with school starting back up and everything and recently got around to looking closely at the work done by the shop.
I found these scratches on the deck:

I cant quite catch my fingernail on them, but its close. Should some copper spray on the HG seal this up or do I need to dish out more $$ lol

i was hoping you wouldnt say that
its been a good three weeks since I actually examined it. When I got it back it had plastic on it and I didnt open it because I got it the day before I went back to school.
I know the shop is reputable because i have seen motors come out of the shop strong
anymore opinions? I know I will catch **** if I try and bring it back this late

you can try to lightlly block sand it and see if it comes out.
I had a friend of mine that scratched his head, where you could catch your nail on it.
I block sand it down, and it works just fine.

haha its not about me 'growing backbone' lol. Im at school now, and I wont be able to take it back to them for quite some time... and almost two months have already passed. The shop that would have done it didnt do any machining to the block, simply assembly. They do not have anything that would be any different than how I would do it.
I paid the shop to assemble my motor because I wasnt 100% confident about myself doing it.. and if they say they didnt scratch it, I was seeing if it was possible for me to remedy it without disassembling the motor.
I will call this week, thanks for all the replies

I have had scratches just like that on a high-compression motor--ran perfectly. Its so easy to scratch them--you could probably even get away with it without using copperspray, but just to be safe--buy a can if you don't have one already--spray a couple light coats--it will be alright I bet. I really wouldn't worry about--especially since you say you can't catch your fingernail on it.
