Anyone cut their stock springs?
Why????? You can get an Eibach Prokit for less than $200. SEARS even carries these now! Quality aftermarket springs offer progressive spring rates which compensates your lower stance with stiffer support to keep you from bottoming. Stock soft bouncy springs + cut = bottoming out = busted exhaust, oil pans, and a plethora of other problems. Also, cutting your stock springs can be very inconsistant and be literally hell on wheels. Alignment will be nearly impossible. Extremely bad choice IMO.

Alright I'll go with a name brand spring like H&R then. I drive a Cobra and this is the first rice burner I've ever messed with so you'll have to excuse me.

it doesnt burn rice..if fact it probably burns nothing -which im sure the cobra does -money out of your pocket......but i digress....short of the drivetrain, its really no different than any other car you might have worked on dude. i know domestic guys generally dont give too ***** about handeling, but springs cary the load of the car...they can single handeldly cause or elimaintes tremendous amounts of weight transfer during cornering and breaking

Yea, you'll have a horrible ride quality and it will be more difficult to control the vehicle.
Don't skimp out on really cheap suspension setups- they'll fail and you'll have an even worse opinion on 'rice burners'.
Here's how I did it:
Tokico Illuminas (also KYB AGX and Koni are good shocks) 379.00
Neuspeed Sports used (also H&R, Eibach, Tein) 70.
For under 500 you can have a great adjustable suspension setup. Since you're a car guy I'm assuming you can do the install yourself, or plan on around 300 for the full installation at a shop. If you really want to bother, strut and sway bar sets can be had for less than 200, and those REALLY tighten up handling. I'd suggest you do it. An Accord is no race car, but with these basic handling upgrades (plus good wheels and tires) it's a totally different beast and you'll appreciate our rice burning handling.

I bought it for the fuel economy, definitely not for the handling or performance. I just wanted to lower the car a little and put some 17 or 18" rims on it so it will at least look good.
Then plan on spending the 500 then for shocks and springs, otherwise one or teh other will go wrong. Bad springs or shock stocks will give you a crap ride.
what ....... why would you do that to your wife ? cuting your springs is not the way to go also why spend the money on your wifes car trust me you would injoy it much more if you spent the money on your car. springs will run you 200 bucks but then you need to have them put on thats 200$ more ,unless you can do it your self
wth... 20's...cutting springs..... geez buddy it seems as if you dont like your wife... just get some springs... for a 1.5 inch drop you can get springs for $160
Cutting Springs isnt the best idea. Your gonna be bouncing like a **** over every damn bump/crack on the road. Get yourself an aftermarket suspension setup as people mentioned above. And itll be safer.
dont do it. because the stock spring is tapered in the bottom so if you cut the bottom there is a chance that your spring will slide off the perch, I believe that is what its called. If you cut the top part the ride is gonna suck really bad. either way you will bottom out and scratch your splash shield and dent the bar that goes down the middle. just do what everyone says and buy another set of springs. if you wanna be dirt cheap just buy a cheap coilover from ebay.
hey now..not all us "domestic guys" hate imports. I happen to like both..and im currently driving an 85 s-10 with a 350 in it...now if only it didnt feel like i was driving a waterbed...
I also love imports though..i think there is nothing better then a beat to hell civic or accord (esp 3rd gens...RIP poor car..wherever you are
) with rust and dents that can pull up next to a stang and beat it in a straight line and around the twisties..
anyway...yea..dont cut them
