Default Full Race B-series GT Stage I, High Boost (plots & comparisons)

refer to below post for past history on this project:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1315396

Full Race Stage I GT (non-AC)
GT28RS (Disco) with T3 hot housing
B18C1
81.5mm
Stock sleeves and crank
Stock cams and gears
Stock TB
750cc
AEM EMS
Eagle rods
9:1 Mahle pistons
Toda valve springs
ATS Carbon Clutch
USDM P73 tranny
P73 head with very, very mild port job
Victory X intake manifold

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOT DYNOJET NUMBERS!

Low boost = 10.5ish psi
High boost = 15ish psi

Note on the log viewer the duty cycle of the boost solenoid begins to creep up after 6500 to try to keep boost pressure maintained due to the small turbo, thus boost at rev limit is only 12ish. (I.E. bigger snail needed if higher than 12 pounds is desired for this application)

same data as above just shown in deltas format
Nice mid-range gains

Note: as the turbo runs out of air, the duty cycle increases on the wastegate

Enjoy

excellent work Yack!

I gotta bring the little green one to see you now that I've got a new tranny and a few other little pieces.

I'll be in touch!

Was hoping for a little more air flow outta the Disco, but O well.

The car was built for road course action so big boost is not the goal anyways.

if the car was build for road racing this is pretty cool... you will have plenty of power response BUT I was expecting more than 292whp from a GT28RS at 15psi on a B18C ??

A) was not "15" psi, was 11.5ish at rev limit

b) NOT A DYNOJET

ahhh ok sorry for my mistake... now it make sense... at 15psi it will break the 300whp mark with no problem

This car must be a lot of fun to drive on a track !

Do you think the .82 a/r would have helped the power output on top end past 12psi, which you stated above?

Those pics would be cooler if the engine would have been on the "Full-Race" engine stand........

So if high boost is only 12psi what is the point of having a high/low boost switch?
Also, I thought this turbo was 'happy' in the 16-18 psi range according to the compressor map. I know the map we looked at was based off a different turbine, but would it make that much of a difference?
Umm, I guess obviously it does. I'm tired and going to bed.
Going to bed happy btw. This is some good chit!

the turbine is too small on that turbo..chokes it pretty good on top.

3071r is much better choice for a honda that wants to make power and keep the power up top, only spools about 5-600 rpms later

As stated above:

I didn't want power "up top", massive mid-range thru the apexi towards the track out marker is what this car was made for, NOT dragwarzYOmang.

Yes, sure would have

jack.. going from teh 28rs to the 3071r we actually picked alot of tq in the midrange and transient responce was actually about the same, granted it all happened about 400ish rpms later.. went from 290tq to 315tq and 374hp to 405hp and held it from full boost (20psi at 4600 with the 28rs, 20psi at 4900 with the 3071r) all the way out to 9000 rpm redline, where the 28rs falls off before 8000 rpms. this car was built for road race and auto x as well.
