Broke rear LCA bolt; can I drill it out?

Last night, I broke the bolt head off the bolt that connects my damper and rear LCA. Is it possible to just drill the bolt out and just buy a new bolt? Anyone have any other solutions?

BUMP cause I'm freaking. I still have to drive it to get to work. And plus, I head back to college in a month. I need this **** fixed before I drive 300 miles each way.
1. Take the strut off still connected to the lca and take to machine shop to get drilled out and replace the bushing.
2. Save the trouble and just get some aftermarket lcas for 100.
3. Junkyard lcas/classifieds go for about 50 bucks.

most likely ur gonna have to replace the lca and the shock... iono which bolt is broken... but hopefully wen u drill it out, the threads dont go with it... good luck!

BUMP for anymore ideas. Anyone else tried drilling it out? I read one post about some guy taking his car to Midas, and a mechanic popped it out with some kind of air tool. BUMP
Ya...same **** happened to me...tried to drill it out for about 2 straight hours...burned through 4-5 bits. Ended up gettin a LCA from the junkyard for $35...I say try that...thats your best bet.

I got the entire shock, fork, and LCA (complete with aftermarket Sprint lowering springs
) for $30 from my local junkyard. And by local I mean 45 minutes away, btw.

It was way simpler than drilling it out or trying to use a screw extractor or whatnot. A couple of bolts here and there and I was done.

Ok, I think I'm gonna try and get ahold of a LCA (like ya'll have been saying) and we'll see what happens from there. And I was trying to put new springs on the car. It just really sucks that I have to spend more money now just to get the car back to where it was in the first place.
I broke that same bolt while doing my suspension too. They are notorious for their heads breaking off.
Also, personally i would advise buying an OEM Honda replacement bolt, by the way. They're pretty expensive, relatively (i mean, it's just one bolt), but IMO it's necessary. This is kind of ironic advice considering my previous statement. But I guess I just don't trust the strength of aftermarket (from Autozone, for example) bolts which are used in such important places.
Also, personally i would advise buying an OEM Honda replacement bolt, by the way. They're pretty expensive, relatively (i mean, it's just one bolt), but IMO it's necessary. This is kind of ironic advice considering my previous statement. But I guess I just don't trust the strength of aftermarket (from Autozone, for example) bolts which are used in such important places.

A bolt from a hardware store will hold up just fine....
I cut completely through the bushing and bolt to get mine out. It was seized up. Of course, if you are trying to remove the bolt and the head breaks off, chances are, it is pretty tight up in there. An ez-out will PROBABLY yield no good results (or bad for that matter), because the bolt is simply seized up with the bushing. Answer: New bushing and bolt. And like I said, I used a cutter to get lca away from the shock, then found a socket that was the exact same diameter as the bushing. I placed the thing in a vice and hammered the bushing out of the lca. I imagine a press would work much better, but this worked fine.
More then likely its siezed up in there thats why it broke on you, this is the biggest proplem Ive seen on honda's I dont care where they were built. On mine I cut both ends off and pressed the bushing out (it has a metal sleave) and got some aftermarket ones (20-30) that handle just fine.
As for the midas thing they propably ussed an air chizzel or a press like I said to get it out.

So I can just have a shop press out the bushing and bolt, then all I'd have to buy was a new bushing and bolt and that would work?

I ended up buying some GSR LCAs and went to Honda for the bolts. The bolts were only $7 bucks a piece. Just wanted to say that cause there were posts out there saying that they were MUCH higher priced than that.

Yeah, I don't really think this is something I want to be skimping on. So I bought all 6 bolts (3 for each side) and took it with a grain of salt. Be I have one of the best shops in the country putting the new LCAs on so I feel really good about the whole thing. Plus they're lowering the car, so yay!
