ok so i had to put an exhaust on my car and i had to take the lca off i know that the nut is welded on so i went to the othe side and was trying to lossin it that way as i was turning it the right way the bolt just snapped.

so now i have a broken bolt stuck in the arm

the nut is a little rusted, what would be the best way fix this?

mine actually broke as well
the head of the bolt plus a little bit more broke off and i just had it jbwelded it back in for the time being until I can get back to it..

haven't had any problems with that..


i wouldn't necessarily reccomend that though
you can drill the bolt out and replace it
or replace the whole arm.

ok so i torched that welded bolt and took it off so now drill it out? like drilling the inside so that the bolt is weak and it brakes?

I broke mine, but i never fixed it haha. We was putting some skunk2 springs on a friends civic and we broke his as well, so his dad took a punch n hammer and knocked the bolt along with welded nut on the other side and all out, then just put a bolt and nut on it. We tried drilling it but it was really hard

the best thing to do is buy a new control arm. Trust me the amount of time you spend trying get that out is a waste.

-one thing if you drill it you still have the nut on the other side on the shock. That is threaded and you need to drill through that to.

that is ALOT harder than it sounds. i broke the one on my hatch and went to a local junkyard and bought another control arm with the strut in it. didnt take that bolt out on the other side. replace the whole arm cuz me and a buddy tried drilling that thing for about 2 hours and got NOWHERE!!! it is alot easier to just change the arm.

btw...for future reference instead of takin that bolt that holds the strut on...take the 2 bolts that hold the arm on itself...it is alot easier. even on my rusty *** hatch i never had any issues with those.

ya man now i know,
so the shock doesnt line up with the arm now that i took of that welded nut. i really don't have a choice other than taking off the whole assembly and try to take it off while its off.

i have a 2000 civic dx. are any of the black circled nuts(on the pic) welded like the other one?

i'm just looking for the cheapest way to fix this bitch, once the assemblys off i'm gonnna try to hammer it. someone told me torching the bushing? what you guys think?

you will have to cut the bolt off on the other side between the strut fork and LCA bushing. then you will have to remove the old bushing and press a new one in. (Its far easier to do all this if you take the whole LCA off removing the other 2 bolts, which also may break.) you will then have to deal with removing the piece of old bolt stuck in the welded nut on the strut fork, you may be able to turn it out, drill it out and rethread the hole, or you may end up have to cut the welded nut off and weld a new one on. Buy a new bolt from honda to replace the one you broke.

i dont think any of them are supposed to be welded...the only one that might be welded is the one that holds the strut on...the other 2 (circled in black) are very easy to take out and can easily be put back in. and instead of trying to drill the hole out....take it from me just BUY A USED CONTROL ARM WITH A STRUT OR AFTERMARKET LCA'S. the time you will waste trying to drill out that bolt will be time you could be using putting it all back together.
