Whats going on guys? I have a bit of a situation. A few days ago I noticed the CEL light came on. I thought nothing of it at first and didnt check it like a jackass. I allthough didnt rip it into vtec at all for the next following days. It went away after about 4 days and I thought it was a bad sensor. No big deal I thought. The day after that, I try and start my car in about 85* temp and it doensnt even try and turn over. I cursed off the bitch and was extremley pissed. I got a jump and drove it to my house. It held a charge everytime I jumped it until I shut her off. This made me come to the conclusion that the alternator was fine and the battery was fucked. Bought a new battery today(70 bux...grrr) and to my surprise the CEL came on. I checked it right away and found out it was 22. Does this have any corelation with the battery and CEL? Any response is welcome and what should I do for the CEL. I heard it was the VTEC solenoid switch, so do I just need to replace that? I also heard to check for low oil? Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanx. Peace yo.
its a wiring problem or oil problem. the vtec wires run right next to the battery maybe u accidently clipped one? 22 means the computer is not gettin a signal. worse comes to worse just hardwire a new wire into a4 (obd1) to the ecu from your vtec solenoid hopefully thats ur problem. put a positive hardwire to the solenoid and listen for a click hopefuly the solenoid is good if its not then u should check the oil level and/or change ur oil
i dont think theres any correlation between the vtec wires and ur battery

code 22 does not mean lack of signal. it mean check your VTEC pressure switch. how? disconnect the connector from the pressure switch (green plug thats connected to the solenoid attached at the end of your camshaft) then connect an ohmmeter between the terminals of the switch. there should be a continuity, if not, replace it!
now check the green plug itself. with the key on, engine off...connect a voltmeter with the body ground and the black/blue wire in the terminal...it should read approx 12v...if not...you have a short/break somewhere

Before you replace it, or even do an ohm-meter test, unplug the harness from the sensor, remove the sensor, and spray it out with brake cleaner. Wait 10-15 seconds, shaking the sensor to get the fluid out of it, then screw it back in, and hook it back up. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery terminal for 30-60 seconds, reconnect, and go for a drive. If you can hit vtec, and no CEL comes on, you're good to go. I've had to do this a few times, and it's always worked. <knock on wood>
Don't go out and buy a vtec pressure switch without troubleshooting the problem. You could end up replacing a functional switch. It's the first part to look at when this code appears but you should know for sure if it's defected before replacing it.
Code 22 is a Vtec malfunction code and isn't limited to just the "vtec pressure switch".
Probable causes for this code.
Vtec solenoid valve
Open or short in vtec solenoid valve circuit
Vtec pressure switch
Open or short in vtec pressure switch circuit
If everything pans out then the ECU would be the last thing to look at. I agree with the gentleman above, at least try cleaning it out first.
