S2000 engine/tranny into 1998 Integra
Hey guys, I'm new to threads and stuff, but I was wondering if you guys could give me a hand. I'm able to buy a 2005 F22A s2000 engine with only 2300miles on it for $3000. I own a 1998 Integra GS with no engine work done. My father is an auto bnody painter and his boss has worked on my car time and time again. My dad knows a lot about cars but his optimism of the s2000 engine fitting and working in my integra scares me. I know the s2000 is RWD and its 6 speed. I would get the engine installed for free or next to nothing. My dad would do all the body work necessary, (ie. welding, making the engine fit etc.) How much mechanic work is it, and what difficulties would I run in to. The engine comes with, tranny, ecu, starter, alternator and centre shaft. Any help would be great. I've never drifted before so whether its good for drifting does not concern me. I just want a RWD integra with a 240 hp engine.
For one, the fabrication involved in making your integra hold the F22 up front leaving you with an FR setup is going to probobly make the car illegal to drive on the street...its also going to cost you a TON of money for parts to simply fabricate the body (even if you have a shop and person willing to do all the labor for free), the car's chassis was built for a front wheel drive platform, and in that, the car is also designed for such a platform, so putting a rwd setup in it will probobly not lead to the best handling situation, that and the fact that the F20 and F22 were both designed and engineered specifically to be in the S2000, how their mounted, their location in the car and everything is what makes the S2000 what it is, the same motor in the integra will NOT perform at all like it does in the S2000, not to mention the fact that the engine itself performs only like it does because its in the S2000 chassis, meaning that you'll probobly lose performance in your integra chassis as well.
Its a subject that has been beaten to death, and the short and sweet of it all, save your money man, get yourself an S2000 and leave the idea at the door...even if you did happen to get it into your integra, and you found a transmission and everything that would fit up right (or figured out how to fit the tranny in your teggy front end) you'll be left with a car that most likely runs mid-high 14sec. 1/4's (in case you were wondering about acceleration), handles like garbage, cant be driven on the street and really, would probobly dissapoint you.
Dont do it...just my opinion.

If you go ahead with this; use the front subframe for the steering rack/suspension and the rear subframe for the rear end/suspension.
Cut the **** out of the car, build a tube chassis to mount the subframes to, anchor the suspension points and whalla!
Oh, cut the **** out of the firewall or move the engine far enough forward so that the shifter is in the right spot.
Ya, have fun
<-----have built a RWD H22 del Sol, the factory subframes sure make projects like these easier. However, the mid engine layout of the S2000(the motor behind the front wheels) makes the engine VERY tough to fit without drastically modifying the car.

I'd say keep it far back as possible. You'll have to do the calculations and estimates as far as where the weight will drop. I'd suggest that the teg becomes a two seater, because you'll need to cut out the firewall, push the steering and shifter back, just behind or over the front axle. The front suspension will need to be reworked. But, as suggested, taking the body panels from a teg and mounting those on a custom chassis would be easier.

There's a kit to mount a k-series tranny to the f20c. That would be your best bet, so you could keep it FWD.
As far as a RWD f20c into the teg, you'd have just as much lucky building a tube frame car and skinning it with teg panels. I've never done it so I'm talking out my butt, but thats how I see it. If your dad is wanting to do it, I say go for it. Since it was his idea, you have someone to blame if things go bad

Yes...that H22 will probobly get you about the same acceleration performance im thinking, for alot less money, less custom fabrication and will probobly remain street legal...you'll still be FF but hey, nobodies perfect.

Just because these two are the only ones featured in magazines with the motor, doesn't mean they're the only cars the motor can swap into. There's a guy in Georgia with an F20 EG.

Prove it.

^^^ Is there any other pictures besides that one of the car? ANd a source showing more about the swap? Not trying to call you out now, just really curious, i've never seen it before...
I read about that car on another forum, some guy took pics of it at a car show and he knew nothing about the car, only that it drove to the show. I just did a quick search on this site cuz i knew I could find the same car. I know nothing about that car, the only thing I know is that it's in Georgia and it's NOT photshop.
A friend of mine said that Mike Simon(S2000 eng. builder), who he bought a motor from, has a FR CRX w/ an F20C in it. I haven't seen it, but he said it was legit. Of course that is just hearsay and I have no facts whatsoever.
I wouldn't waste my time/money on a project like this. If you are dead set on an F20C in your integra, do FF and get the mount kit that bolts up the K tranny.
Or, better yet buy a car that already has an F20C/F22C in it(i.e. the S2000). You will save a lot of time/money/aggrevasion/blood/sweat/etc and you will have a machine that will perform much better.
