Maaco Paint??
Hi there,
I believe I saw someone post a question about Maaco paint job, but I couldn't find that thread. I wanted to know if anyone has ever had their car painted at Maaco. All I'm doing is the hood and they're the cheapest I can find. This is my beater car, so I don't want to spend too much money on this car. Can anyone help me please? And please don't kick my **** if this topic has already been discussed.
Thanks.

eh, the car looks ok lol. i paid 300 for the whole car. If you take care of it, the paint will last well over a year, although it might dull a bit. I suggest you do all the prep work yourself before taking it in. I think you should go to maaco to get your car done. you got any pics?
If it's just your beater, get Maaco. I did for my beater civic. Paid 500 for them to take care of the bad oxidation, change color, and 4 or 5 year warranty. As said, it's not show quality, but I was satisfied.
dont do it, whatever you do....just keep saving

you dont wanna spend too much, but bringing it to Maaco will be a waste
it will peel over time, chip off, etc....i wasted $600.
trust me, dont do it....i know budget is an issue, but it will just be a big waste later on.
if you feel that you still have to do it, go for it...just lettin ya know now that it will be a waste

what about body work. I have a lot of dings and some bubbling occuring at the passanger side tire wheel well. The paint is cracked also at that same place on the door because i hit something. I have oxidation on the roof and trunk but those are being done up in carbon fiber. Everything but the roof, hood, and trunk.

Wow, that's a great price!! I'm only getting the hood done. I'm buying a used 93' hood for $100, but it's white, so I have to get that repainted to match my car colour. You really want to see the rust on my hood? If so, I'll get my brother to take a picture of it. Right now, I have a car bra to cover the disgusting rust spot. It's also close to the latch, so I don't want the hood to fly out. I've heard that happened to someone on the highway.

I wish I didn't have to repaint the hood. But it's going to become a safety issue because the rust and hole is near the latch and someone had the same thing and their hood flew off on the highway. Luckily no one was hurt.

I'm only getting the hood done and the warranty on the paint is only 1 year.
Does that sound fishy to you??

yah if its just your hood take it to macco. There are also a lot of body shops that will usually do it for cheap, and since you only have your hood to do they might do it for cheap. Theres always these guys that stop and see my car and are like hey ill fix your car and paint it for cheap...yet im always like nah im not worried about it. Get a CF one after a year something maybe.

Nope. Sounds reasonable since it's JUST the hood and not a whole car.
I got my car done 2 years ago and it still looks good (just dirty because it hasn't been driven or washed in 3 months

man one of them did my friends DA when he had it. It was hillarious. His kit was cracked hand the car was a total mess. I don know what he put on it, bondo i think, he sat there in his driveway and fixed it and whatever and drilled holes to pull out the dents and what not. Then put the bondo on and shaved it and sanded it all down. It looked okay, paint obviously didn't match, so he charged him 150, then was like i want a tip. You better give me a big tip for all the work I did. We were like wtf we told you 150 thats it. I don't know how much tip he gave him. Car later got jacked, sold, and caught on fire and we found the shell laying behind inline pro burned up.
