Default Make It MAACO?

Anyone here have any experience with Maaco? Im short as hell on cash and dont want to be rocking a multicolourred sanded down and shaved car. I want to do all the work on my car like sanding everything smooth and possible primer.

How much do the paint jobs vary? I have a shop 50miles away that Im thinking of going to. If I did all of the prep work myself would they be able to pull off a descent job to get me through a year? I would only need the exterior of the car and not the jams or engine bay. How much would I be looking at?

Got Pics?

i wouldn't do...especially from maaco. my friend got his 240 painted there and it started to chip within months. I know you want to paint your car, but if you do it right the 1st time you won't have to do it again. save your $$$

Ya I definetely am going to be prepping myself and probably primerring. Im thinking I can get it done for under 300 canadian if I do that. I just wanna know if they leave runs and **** in the paint or if the do a descent job. Im not getting the amboassador special for $99 where they paint over the old ****, but dont wanna spend more than 300 and I think they can have it done there.

Anyone got pics of maaco cars?

'89 CRX Si

'90 CRX HF

Both Maaco paintjobs.

I've had the '90 for about 3 years now? had the paintjob for about 2 years? It's chipped here and there, but, overall, I'm happy with it. I paid $500 for a new hood and paint.

Just make sure you remove all corner markers/bumper lens that you can. Remove anything you don't want painted. Specify what you DO want painted and what you DON'T.

Im kinda new here and didnt see anything on it. Search didnt come up with any good answers either, all people say the same old repost comments. Thanks for the pics of the crx, looks good. I only want this to hold for one year until I have a lot of money saved while working full time.

How specific do I have to be? Are they going to be painting the door trims and ****? head/tail lights?

Also what should I do about my body kit and z3 fenders? they have holes and grills. Should I place tape behind the z3 holes and tape off my body kit grill?

I once had my car painted at Maaco. I did all the body work myself and stripped the car of anything i didn't want overspray to get on. It turned out pretty good for $400.

alot of the time for macco, the car looks good on arrival but does not stay good looking for the fact that the quality of the paint is low and no where near factory.

no offense intended, but this is a shitty job. i would be EMBARRESSED to have one of our customers cars look like this

look that the LACK of gloss. it looks like a single stage job with no cutting or buffing... sheesh.... makes me cringe just looking at it

$350 for the total paint job... DIY....

THIS is what it's supposed to look like when done RIGHT. prep, prime, base coats, clear coats, cutting then buffing. all dupont paint and chemicals.

yeap, the side of the car almost looks "pixeled".... like it was painted with a roller

quality paint work will provide a long lasting mirror finish

That is the classic single stage Maaco paint. I also notice the DA marks. That is the #1 thing Maaco does bad, they just gring all the old paint down with a DA and then respray....DA marks look like ****.

Noobie here, bare with me I got some questions that may help some of us out.
For those that are paint experts what else can you tell off the bat that makes a paint job that horrible
When I saw the pics of that EG it looked alright but after seein some of your posts I looked at it again and did see that it was not very great but it still doesn't look too bad.
