Default Identifying a JDM ITR block.....

Ok. The guy i sold my car to is concerned because my motor (JDM ITR SWAP) only has b18c stamped on it.

Someone else told him all JDM ITR have p73 stamped on the rear of the block, he said this one has p72 ( i never looked, i know what i had) now he is questioning the authenticity, even though it has the dot on the pr3-3 head..

Isn't there a way to identify by the VIN under the b18c? Help me put this guys mine to ease....Thanks.

I'm sorry, but that is incorrect. The JDM block stamp is B18C. Only USDM is B18C5.

As for other ways to tell, I know it's in the archives somewhere. If I recall, motors can say P72 or P73, heads can be -1 -2 or -3, and tranny's should say LSD, but also have model #'s (which I can't recall). Plus, the tranny codes can often be difficult to read.

Edit: I've just checked my engine number (96Spec JDM ITR) and its 1904481 so its highly probable that the motor is a JDM B18C. I think all JDM ITR motors start with 19XXXXX and all GSR motors with 10XXXXX (mine was possibly the 4481st one produced.....?</TD></TR></TABLE>
