Wanted to know everyones option on the sts turbo and if it is any better than an normal front mount turbo.

decent idea, too expensive...

if you wanted, you could probably homemake this system without too much trouble, if you're good with a welder.

 

I couldn't find a price on the sts kit for a civic but the gto and camaros run from 3-4G...and Im not a good welder.

 

I would think it would be laggy

 

on thier web site it says its not because the tubing is smaller at the turbo end which forces the air more than if it were all one size.

 

it just seems like it would be laggy...

I mean...imagine flooring it...you have to wait for the exhaust to travel to the back of the car....start spooling the turbo....then wait for boost to build up in a pipe that travels from the back of the car to the throttle body???

Seems like a lot of damn piping to me.

 

as long as you pushing the gas dosent air stay in the pipes....even if your only at like 2000rpm

With the turbo so far back, don't you get a lot of turbo lag?
No, our turbochargers are sized to operate at this remote location. Just like any turbocharger, once the turbo is up to temperature and in the rpm range for which it was designed to operate. The boost comes on hard and fast. All of our systems will produce full boost below 3000 rpm.
If you were to take a conventional turbo and place it at the rear, you would have lots of lag and consequently, our turbo wouldn't work properly if mounted up front.

I think they are pretty good kits. Look at the kit for the GTO They made 404 WHP and 464 torque at 4 PSI. The car stock makes 291 WHP and 311 torque. They used the stock computer and injectors etc. All they did was put the kit on. Heres a link http://www.ststurbo.com/gto_dyno

Im looing forward to seeing what the kit does that they are making for the Civic and the ITR.

 

on the web site is shows and ITR taking off...looks a little slow but that is compared to the camaro and the gto
