Default PW0 vs. PR3

What's the biggest difference? Which is better? Are they interchangable?

Ok sorry about that. I have an 89 hatch DX with an XSi swap. Originally I had a PR3 ECU, however, last week during a small electrical fire, I fried the stock ECU. The only ECU I can find readily available is a PW0. The PR3 XSi motor has 2 o2's and I believe the SiR swap only has 1. Will this matter at all when swapping to the PW0, which came with the SiR swap and only is programmed to read 1 o2? I'm assuming all of the wiring is the same. Only reason I'm continuing this thread is because I did not see the answer to the question about the o2 in the other links posted. Any help appreciated.

Are you positive about that? I've had both an SiR swapped CRX and now the XSi swapped hatch. The SiR swap only had 1 o2.

Then the ecu was programmed to only look for one o2. Both ecu's in their stock form are obd-0 and require two o2's. Try a search if you require more definitive proof.

Actually I went back and read some of the previously posted link and it even says in there about the SiR only having one. I'm not saying you are wrong, just trying to find out a definite on the ECU swap, rather it is recommended or not.

obd0=2 o2 sensors
obd1=1 o2 sensor
odb2=2 o2 sensors

easy as that

Euro PW0's have 1 02 sensor. JDM PW0 and PR3 ecus both use 2 o2 sensors. My experience with the two ecus in stock form has been that the PR3 has a slightly higher rev limit (PW0 used to cut at 8, PR3 at about 8200), but the PW0 seemed to run better with my B16. I ended up getting the PW0 chipped and ran my own program on it. I'm now running OBD-I with a chipped P06.

I used a half cut SiR when I built my car.......It has 2 O2 sensors and had a PW3 ECU

I modified my 4-1 header to use both O2 sensors to work correctly.

so are there any benefits when you chip the ecu to only look for one O2.?

1 less sensor, 1 less hole in the header... chipping is mainly for vtec engagement point, rpm limiter, timing/fuel maps, etc.

only for simplicity, but you should make sure that the single o2 is placed where it can get readings from all 4 cylinders (like almost all aftermarket headers). Even worse is running 1 when the ecu is looking for 2. Or having them crossed.
