Default my experience at the track

* updated most wednesdays*
***best and most current***
just got back from the track.
60ft. 2.107
1/4 13.92
mph 98.58
Ditched the ctr pulley and got a set of drag radial. I need more power. Still running jdm b16 airbox. lol

After owning a 89dx hatch for 4 years(2.5 of them on jackstands lol). finally got it ALMOST CORRECT and took it to the track.
Setup is
stock 93b18a
88-91stock b16 airbox
jdm 2.5 dc header and cat.
2.25 kteller exhaust.
ys1 gsr tranny W/ls 5th gear
8.8# flywheel
hx rims and es 100's for tires 18#PSI
full interior, A/C. Car is not light either has some extra hidden weight
1st run
60' 2.577
1/8 9.865
mph 74.33
1/4 15.121
mph 93.19

BEST RUN
60' 2.207
1/8 9.489
mph 74.38
1/4 14.759
mph 93.19
I must say I was hapyy with the first run even though it was pathetic.Raced a buddy in his 5.0 and whopped him on his 14.9 and even got to take out my boys mercury maurader (SP?) 15.2. i must say I am very happy . No the real question is what to do next:
crower 403's(scared about gas mileage or would be first option)
build b17a in my garage or
rebuild b17a head to put on stock b18 bottom.(I do put alot of miles on my car though and I gotta the of relability.

any input? and is 18 psi good to run on yoks avs es 100's

rebuild the b17 unless u're willing to put the extra money into making a decent lsvtec.
imo - no point in halfassed hybrids, if u gonna do it do it right and u will be pleased.

pretty good times u put down too

I know, but It would be so easy to slap a set of non-vtec crower cams in that b18a and probally get very ggood numbers for less than a $500 investment. proper.....or
motor build
b17a 185whp ish couple grand
ls vtec 200whp ish few grand
crower 403's 150whp ish with a awesome powerband and low-end your monther would love. $400+tuning. decisions. decisions

I think more compression and 403s or 404s would be fun. That is my plan anyway. More track time is about the best mod you can do IMO.

Don't know if I would want more compression. I like the idea of putting a little lower octane in(lesss I"m cheap) if I am not driving hard. Have you seems gas prices lately.lol
I could probally with some crower's and stickier tires get real real close to the 13's

anyone else care to share some similar times or opinions?. wondering if 403's, some drag radials, and lots of tuning could get my hatch in the 13's. If that's the case I wiill stay non vtec until my motor starts to show some wear and than b17 and hopes of 12's. lol

Well. A bunch of things have changed. I blew the ls motor. So I put this b17 motor that was sitting in my garage for 3years. Motor runs flawless. Only changings were b17a, ctr crank pulley, and full-race tractin bars. so my 6oft times actually suffered, but not by much. still mid 2.2's.
1st run 60ft 2.257
1/4 14.46
trap 96.07
2nd run 2.28 60ft
1/4 14.32
trap 96.78.
Iam going for some drag radial's for next time
and soon to be a quaffie ans my bc3+ cams. I hop be be in th e mid thirteens. lol

ANY ADVICE.

yeah, I have an open diff, shitty tires, and also have full-rece traction bar. My 60' times were actually worse with the b17 and i have a fullracetraction bar. I'm getting some drag radials and the quaife. should be a solid 13 sec car. alt least until I get my bc3+ cams in. Repenin the little guys. the stock block b17 and hoping for mid 13's.

mauraderers are heavy and slow even though they have 300 hrsepower. I'm going back to the track on wednesday with a set of drag radials and hoping for 2.0 60ft. times. I figures the radials alond with the full race traction bar I shouldn't have a problem getting into the 13's. just out of curiousity what kind of trap speeds are good for 13's

went back and only removed my front from previous week.
60' 2.169 ( I love full race)
14.054 @98mph
13's are in my grasp with street tires, stock cams, a/c, and an open diff!

i remember this one. so did you only get one run? or was that your best? with an intake and drag radials or even slicks you could run consistent 13.7-8s i would guess if not lower.

I deff need to ditch the airbox. I have a crapy ebay intake I could use. I got there late. only 2 runs 14.4 and 13.9. I have alot of learning to go with drag radials. I am very inconsistant.
