Default 1988-1991 CRX Si H22 Complete Swap Guide

Alright here's the bottom line. Everybody an their mother wants an H22 in their CRX. They have the most horsepwer, the most torque and are significantly cheaper than any GS-R Engine. People have done the swap. Many of us have not because we basically don't know what to do. However for those of you that have done this swap, I ask you to help out the rest of us. What exactly do we need? What parts do we buy or steal or fabricate? The worl wants to know! Set the record straight and tell us how. Stop dumbasses like from asking everyone else and posting the same questions to everyone's forums.

I've already seen this post. Everyone else on Honda-Tech has seen this post. I'm trying to get info from someone who did it. Not lines like "If you use the H-Series Transmission", "If you can make one" or "You have to make a bracket"! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Those of you that have done it. Where are the pics? How did the installation go? Who makes the god-damn parts that no one else can seem to find? How about some specifics? Anyone? Don't copy and paste what "some guy" said.

That is a summary. There are no parts you can buy. If you searched you would see post by people who have done it and you would see that currently its a custom fabbed process.......

the only way to make this form a better place is to quit finding post everyday saying "can i put a h22a in my crx?" or "is a b series worth it". if you want to find info, go to search, choose ef forum and type in h22a.

I love it how people want to do custom stuff and expect every body to run to their help and hold their hands while doing it. I am willing to bet hard money that the few guys who have done the H22 swap did it w/o coming here for someone to tell them how to.
It's C U S T O M, one of a kind, prototype stuff and you want instructions?

Get it started, buy the engine, show progress, commitment and you will find lots of people here willing to fill in the details you don't know.

amen. everything done so far on my car was figured out myself. not saying this site doesn't help, for example, i wouldn't have known to do the little things like pull out the oil regulator in the block when doing the minime i've got building up (but thats not on my car yet).

so, while this site is nice, has comradery, can help with a specific problem or certain details, its no replacement for common sense and ingenuity.

and i'll add this, you talk about buying parts (i won't even get into the stealing..). why do people always have to have someone make something for them? reminds me of this guy whose house i was at yesterday, his car's been down for 5 months because he doesn't have the money to have the local tuner shop (dynotuned, i know people like them, but a good friend was ripped off, so i don't) charge 250 bucks to do the wiring from dpfi to obd0 b16 vtec, for the complete swap he's sat on for 6 months. he's like "i don't want a hack job."

i mean, come on, 250 bucks for something that theres good documentation on, and you could get it done in 4 hours having never done it before. he has all the wiring harness plugs, etc.

sorry if this SEEMS off topic, but i'm trying to prove my obscure point. be ******* independent. figure stuff out. i'm not saying hack it up, be careful, but you can do things yourself.

I know 0 (yes, zero) people who have done H22 CRX Swaps. I've seen about 4 online. How is it that you say "It's C U S T O M, one of a kind, prototype stuff" when I've seen more than one not to mention the ones that I'll never see. Unless you have a pretty damn good background in engine swapping and fabrication, there's no way for you to "figure it out". Isn't that what the forum is for?

This post was made a long time ago. I'm not ******* with the H22 until they get ALL the bugs worked out. I'm going 92+ B16 first. That way I can keep my YS1 tranny and just get the H2B adapter if I decide to try it.
