Ok, this is the first time its happened and im wondering what is causing this. When i go out to my car and try to turn over the ignition, it doesnt start. Then i will sit there for a second and my alarm will go off. So i de-arm the car and then start it. After that i notice that my radio clock and all of its settings have been reset to default. This will happen if i dont start the car for over 10 hours or so. If i try a few hours or so after i had just driven it, everything works fine. But one thing that i really notice is the shock that i get every time i step out of the car and close the door. Its way stronger than just a static shock, infact ive been closing the door with my shoulder cause it hurts too much with your had. So my question is, what do you think the problem could be and where should i check first? Thanks for the help.
getting shocked and dead battery are not same problem.
shock is static electricity. we are all getting hit by it.
battery?? sounds like you need a new one if it is going dead after a few hours or you are leaving something on in the car.

I already replaced the battery 2 months ago after the last one went bad and did the same thing... that time i thought it was just a crappy battery... this time i think its the wiring or something
ive been having the same problem getting friggin shocked whenever i get out of the car. The shocks have been stronger than normal lately. Ground yourself!

****, that's what those stupid things are for. I've seen like 80 retards in SUVs driving around with what looks like a strip of velcro hanging down from their tow hook.

iforget what it's called. oh yea, parasitic draw. something is staying on while your key is out of the ignition. do u know anything about electricity? your going to have to have a multimeter. a parasitic draw is a load that stays on like a light by a door switch or something. Something is short to power/short to ground. u deffinetly need a multimeter

a lot of those ground kits on ebay are junk. just goto an autoparts store and by some 2-4g wire. with your radio settings and stuff check your i believe its a 7.5 amp fuse in the engine compartment. its called your back up fuse. it should be the only 7.5a fuse so easy to find. but yea like said above you've got something draining your battery. sounds like alternator is working fine but its most likely a bad ground somewhere causing the drain.... happened to me with my tranny to chassis ground. good luck
It's either your altenator going south, or crappy grounds. Try the easy **** first-grounds. Find all your grounds, remove both ends of them and sand down the end of the wire and the spot they ground to. If your battery still dies, then it's most likely yoru altenator. You could have it rebuilt for about $80 or so.
this was posted by me this year, strong shock, worried it was electrical...
its just static, little rain or car wash fixed it for me.. it came back, but weather has been strange... don't worry about it...
