Default vtec not engaging

in my 00 gsr my vtec is not engaging at all until the car has been running for about 5-10 min.... is this normal?

yes that is normal and no offence but you shouldnt be trying to run to rpms that high untill after that 5 -10 min warmup time... which is why vtec isnt able to actiavte till the motor is properly warmed up

i usually do wait at least five min. bedore getting into higher rpms, but it makes sense

you gotta wait longer than that... usually you should wait till your temp guage is at the right spot about half way then your fine to run it in the higher r's

your oil pressure is probably not high enough, just let the car warm up a bit. If the car is relatively stock you may not be able to audibly hear vtec either, so maybe vtec is kicking in and you don't hear it.

def wanna check your oil......i had a friend that worked on a GSR at this shop and the kid asked him why his vtec wasnt workin......take a quick look around and found out it had no oil.....lol........so def make sure ya got oil!

i check my oil almost every other day...I dont burn a drop... and I can audibly hear the vtec...."love that sound", I was pretty sure it was normal, thanks for the input though.........
