Default 96+ Civic HB turbo questions

Hello,

I was wondering if ppl who have experience turboing the D series 96+ civic HB motors could share their experience with me..

was it worth it?
should i turbo the D series motor or just swap in a B series and then turbo that?
what kinda HP gains?
what kinda 1/4 mile times?

Thanks

Make your life easier and just get the swap and then turbo.

I'm turboing my D16...My dad dont want me to swap it..and since he used to own a mechanic shop, I cant hide it either....but anyways...if you do a basic turbo set up on a D16...(nothing fancy)...you can beat GS-R's..if you tune it correctly..check out this site.. http://pub19.ezboard.com/fturbod16forumturbod16
and what you were saying...about getting a B16A and then turboing that or just go turbo with your D16..it works visa versa....You can always turbo your B16 later..or if you turbo your D16, you can always salvage your turbo for the B16 later...

thanks for the responses so far..

I would rather do it "right" the first time.. AFAIK the parts for a D series engine cannot be shared with a B series engine..

that is why if it is *MUCH* better to turbo the B16a then i'd rather spend a little extra cash in the beginning and swap that engine in first..

let me know how your d16 turbo turns out, i'd appreciate any feedback you could give me on the install and performance!

thanks!

If you're talking a B16 and not a B18 you're not looking at a *world* of difference in performance .. maybe money though. I really really really need to update my site, but here it is:
http://www.nerdsbyte.com/honda

Enjoy and feel free to IM or email any questions. You'll love your car with a turbo, no matter what engine you use. Except maybe those silly VW turbo diesels..

If you're gonna swap, IMO go B18 or better... the B16 is a lovley motor, but to swap out from a D16 to a B16 seems like a waste to me if you're gonna go through the time/money involved in a swap.

OK, thanks for all responses so far.

I dont have the civic YET... currently i have an integra, but that will be sold soon because my insurance rates are too damn high..

so if i swap in a LS or GSR motor (what are prices for these aprox? canadian prices if possible pls.. cuz USA is cheaper usually ) do i have to buy all LS/GSR parts? like exhaust, exhaust manifold, etc. etc. etc..

thanks again for all the help.. i'm pretty knowledgable when it comes to integra's (thanks to this board ), but a complete newbie with hybrids/civics...
