Default H22A Civic Won't shift into reverse (Just replaced pass. side Mount and axle) HELP!

Ok.....I know there are many threads about this prob.....I have searched
But none of them mention anything about relationship with engine mounting position. or axles,, anyway.

I have an JDM H22a EK hatch

I just replaced the passenger side motor mount and axle. All seemed well. After a little spirited driving I noticed a very slight 5th gear grind. OK no big deal, then I went to switch car In to reverse and it wouldn't go. (tried runnin to every gear b4 rev.) checked shifter cables all looks well.......after a little manipulation I got it in to rev. but it got stuck AGGHHH!. Finnaly got it out took car home and put it to sleep.....woke up it was fine....drove it again same prob came back. Now once again NO REVERSE!

A) WTF!
B) I'm wondering if engine mounting pos. has anything to do w/ this prob.
being that I replaced the mount...is alignment off somewhere
C) ANY ADVISE AT ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!! (I know many have had similar probs........I hope its not my syncro's

Well, just so you know someone is looking.

I have no idea.

Maybe you are having a shifter fork problem?

Are you sure the cables aren't kinked cuz I've never heard this happen before. Mine has a slight grind in 5th but if I shift it slowly, it doesn't grind. Look at your shifter assembly is what I would say. Dunno anything else since I've never heard this happen before. BUMP for someone with the knowledge to fix this.

That happens in my lude from time to time, I just put it into a couple of other gears, and then try reverse again. Pops in everytime. Hopefully, it's nothing serious.

usually you should click it into 1st and then into reverse.

the oil might be low in the tranny also. i noticed its hard to put into 1st and reverse if the oil is low. (reverse gets harder before first gear)

i need help with my h22 also

I know I know......shoul've been my first move OK......a little more of the story's gonna come out now......tranny was always run w/ GM syncromesh...when I changed axle I put in honda MTF....... B4 I do anything......I'll swap fluid for syncromesh............and pray

Side note I was driving last night and I started hearing a strange new noise......Sounds like baseball cards in bicycle spokes from my tranny???

I know it's not a good sound but any ideas of what exactly....

(I know I hate reading these threads too)

any weird bearing noises? like T/O bearing or input shaft bearing noises that go away when the clutch is depressed? how's clutch engagement in other gears? what mount did you replace the other mount with? same brand?

I also had a "not going in reverse issue". Then I figured out that if I put it in 1st gear then reverse it would go in. I used that GM syncromesh W/ friction modifier and within 3 weeks no more 3rd gear grind and reverse went in like butter.

do you have to modify the mount bracket for the ek swap? I bet you would have noticed this by now, but for the eg at least, you have to trim the bracket that the tranny mount bolts to or the shift lever on top of the tranny will hit it. I know it's a long shot, but I can't think of anything else, at least its a free bump.

Ha Ha, I appreciate it. I changed to the name the night a 16 year old kid told me my car looked like **** (sol, clean paint, 16" rotas, lowered 2", tinted windows), as he stood next to his rice box (ek coupe, body kit, z3 fenders, park bench wing, 5" exhaust tip, led underbody kit, and they body kit and fenders were spray painted to try to match his paint). He told me I needed more jdm parts, then proceeded to explain to me how his z3 fenders were jdm. ******* ricers ps. I think ricey mcricerton is the best name. I laughed out loud the first time I saw it.

My reverse went out about 6 months ago, but about 2 weeks after it happened i was messin with the shifter and it went into reverse but was very stiff. after 5 minutes it was in/out of reverse like normal again.
