Default electric shock

I've got an '95 civic coupe Ex and once in a while when I get done driving my car I get out and when I go to close the the door I get a small shock on my hand. I was thinking it's not safe when I'm at the gas station. What are the possibilities and how to fix it? thnx -Hector

Deal with it. Grab something metal before getting up from your seat. You need to release the static charge somewhere. If you dont get zapped getting out of your car, you're gonna get zapped on the next metal thing you touch. I deal with it all winter long, not much you can do about it.

Hey, I got the same problem. I usually just let the charge go when I touch the door frame. I have no mats in my car. I don't know why it has suddenly developed a static charge, but rainy day's are nice (keeps the static charge down). I figure it's just a winter thing (dry winter), but it's April and still going . I am use to it so it's no big deal .

Carry a bounce sheet in your pocket.

Would work. And I will smell nice . Winter is usually dry so there is a lot of static charge every where.

Not in April. It's getting a little late for it to still be happening. Usually stops mid Feb.

before you completely get out, touch the door metal with the tip of your key. your body will discharge and it will help.

static's always my problem, the key tap works all the time

one other trick is to hold/grip a bit on the rubber/metal top of the door, don't let it go until your body is completely out of the car.

Sure . I don't think it's my shoes, but these Type R ones are getting a little low on tread.

its static from slding around in your seats.

problem worsens when the air is cold and less humid.
