b16 idles wierd at 2k rpm
i have a b16a II and when i start up the car in the morning, the rpm goes up around 2200 rpm and it stays up there. i know this is normal, but after a few minutes the rpm goes down to 1900-2000 and it starts to fluctuate back and forth between that range, then it stops. i have no CEL however.
i was just wondering what could cause this?

Check all vacuum lines. if that doesn't solve your problem
you can try reseting your ECU:
1. unplug battery for 15 minutes
2. plug it back in and start your car
3. hold you foot on the gas at 3000 RPM until the car warms up (let the cooling fan turn on twice before you let go of the gas)
3. let go of the gas pedal and it should idle where it's supposed to. let it sit like that for about 5-10 minutes so the ECU learns the IDLE

oh and if that doesn't work...

ok here is a pic of my vacuum lines and misc valves that i'm checking it right now:
*sorry for the crappy pic

it's a b16a 2nd generation (NOT 1st gen!!!) on my civic. I believe 1st and 2nd gens are different.
I'm having trouble locating where the PCV is, does anyone know where it is? I believe my setup is somewhat wrong. Anybody see anything wrong with my setup?

did you just recently do this swap? looks like a jdm motor... map sensor connection seems ok....the tps is that black sensor under the map sensor attached to the throttle body...
if you have the plugs on the tps and the map switched you are going to have some weird idle issues...and you'll also smell fuel... check the fast idle valve

i've had this motor for over a year already. been having the problem ever since, and finally got time to check this whole thing out.
yeah it's a jdm b16a gen2. i'm 100% sure i have the tps and map sensor hooked up right because i mixed them up and had really bad idle and CELs before.

ever changed the tps? i mean when you got the motor was the tps intact? I had some problems with my tps with the motor I got and it caused me to idle at 3000rpms.. changed it and adjusted...no more throttle problems. what ecu are you using?

hmm i'll have to check on that if nothing else works.

im running on the JDM P30 that came with the swap.
wheni got the motor, the tps was intact, every sensor was there except the map sensor. i had to get the map sensor and hook it up with the T.

i've never take my TB apart yet, so I bet that's not the case.
I took the T shape off on the map sensor vacuum line and hook the map sensor straight to the line that goes to the TB. The other line just hangs there. Then I notice my motor idles the same, maybe even better (but i have to test it out on a cold start later). Looks like I don't need the other line?

What ecu are you running. I had a jdm p30 that would make my b16 idle up and down but my friends would idle fine with it installed. It did not hurt how the car ran and hell it even made 6 more whp than a usdm p30 but it would not idle for ****. Try running a p28 just to see if that is the case with yours. I know it sounds funny but I have seen stranger things.
i have the same swap in my 93 civic coupe. the sir II. mine idles cold at 2200, but goes down to 700-800rpms when warm. just check the simple stuff like sticking tb and tighten the screw. It could be the iac or something electrical, but if no cel then who knows...gotta play with it. dont use the d16 p28, made my car run slower, stick with the 30.

I have the same swap, and yea I didn't T the map sensor to that little nipple on the throttle body as it seems to do nothing (i don't have the line that runs to the right on the picture of T), but i believe this is not your problem.
I think your problem would either be your IACV or your FITV. Leaning more towards your IACV, it is on the bottom/back part of your Intake Manifold and is held on by 2 or 3 screws, also has like two coolant lines running to it, take it off and clean it with carb cleaner or something, make sure you clean the little screen it has real well. Also adjust your idle screw and reset your ecu.
Goodluck

I've done some researching today and many people suggested this. I'm going to give this a try.
Although I did cleaned my IACV with carb cleaner before, how can I go "adjusting" it?

i have the same problem with my b16a sirII swap, but it didnt start fluctuating with the rpms until i installed my turbo. i just havent gotten around to check it yet.
MOST LIKELY u need to adjust your FITV its underneith your TB its has to bolts covering it, then there is a flat tip screw u turn, turn it with car on and adjust tell it idels right, also if u cleaned your IACV out with carb cleaner, this should fix your problem.(adjust the FITV)

I did not suggest that he use the p28 from here on out, I just suggested that he try it to see if his idle was still funny with a different ecu.
I am only suggesting this cause my car did the same thing with a jdm p30

I am starting to wonder if you can even read. This is an attempt to isolate his problem not make his car as fast as yours.
