I've been thinking that an oil pressure guage might be a useful thing to have. Do any of you have a mechanical oil pressure guage and how hard was the install? Thanks.
Electrical..
didn't want oil in my passenger compartment..
the pain is getting to the where you hook up to the block
it's on top of the oil filter.. and you have to snake you hand and wrench around the exhaust..
1/8 bsp -> -4an braided line -4an tee -> 1/8 NPT -> sender
see this for proper installation
and the other side goes to 1/8 BSP -> Oil pressure switch (or 1/8 npt with 1/8 npt pressure switch)

I have one. Pretty easy to install, I used -3an steel braided line instead of the crappy hose it comes with (Autometer)
Get a fitting for the back of the block, doesnt even have to be a Tee because you cna throw the stock pressure sensor in the trash once you install the gauge.
You cna either use a 1/8" NPT fitting (isnt quite the same thread...but it works) or buy a 1/8" BSPT to NPT fitting. I have this fitting at home and some -3an line if youre intrested in buying it.

the light comes on when there is no oil pressure because it is a normally closed switch- with oil pressure the circuit opens and you have no light. unplug it and it wont come on.

ok, i get what u are saying, but what fitting is needed to hook up to the back of the gauge??? has to be a -3an that flares to some female size.
you can use a mechanical I would recommend a changing the hose every year though electricals good but the install sucks and dont use brass pipe fittings they crack easily I had to learn the hard way twice taking a little piece of pipe out of your block is not fun.

I'd still rather have the oil light..
I had a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Install wasnt bad at all, i just got a bunch of fittings from home depot and ghetto rigged it, about oil leaking into your car, i believe someone else posted this a long time ago but that is just as silly as an electrical gauge setting your dash on fire. If you install it correctly it will not leak.
